Hi,

My little one was born at 24 weeks, she was hospitalised for 5 months and now she is home.

She was discharged with her PDA still open with hope that it will close itself once she will grow. They tried to close it with medication in a hospital but the course was unsuccessful. She was discharge with the PDA as it was small and if didn't bother her and her life in any way. Now she is home for 4 months and her doctors are talking about her going back to hospital for pda ligation surgery.

God I want to cry when I think about that. She had two bowel surgeries and have massive scars on her tummy. I would absolutely hate for her to have another one. I get it's vain and all but I hoped it's over. So hopeless...

Anyone in the same situation? Does she need more time? Any of ur kids had to go back? Or did it close itself?

Thanks!

Hi im sorry your anxious about this. I've not got children with this but I work with preemies. PDA'S do usually close with medication if they're small but there are lots that don't and require surgery.
Can I assure you that it's a very quick operation that leaves a tiny scar on the back that will fade as the years go by.
Your DD has done so well to be home with you after being born so early. Please try not to worry Flowers
