Hi pop I've not got children with Gastroschisis but I'm a Neonatal Nurse and have looked after lots of Gastrochisis babies.
They usually do amazingly well but be prepared for them to have a lengthy stay in hospital. After the surgery it takes quite a while for the gut to start working again. The baby will be closely monitored and most end up on a specialist formula.
They sometimes have episodes of vomiting every feed and patience is the key.
But they all go home like nothing has happened!
I hope the hospital has given you lots of support, it must seem an anxious time for you.Flowers

Sorry, I stupidly assumed you are pregnant but you could have already had the baby. Apologies!

ohGrin ignore me then! out of interest, how long was he in hospital? I guess things were a bit different even as little as 13 years ago?

They predicted 3 months his entire large intestine was out. He came home after 16 days from Manchester x
