Timing of jabs for preemies

Hi all, first timer here! I'm a new "mum of a preemie" - DS born at 33+6 and now very nearly at his due date.

He's coming up fast to his 8 week jabs, and I've been wanting to check he should be having these at 8 weeks actual rather than 8 weeks corrected... Does anyone have experience of this?

Many thanks in advance!

Ours were done at 8 weeks actual. I think they should send you a letter with the date.

And congratulations!

29 weeker here and jabs done at corrected age dates - in NICU until just after due date.

There you go one of each! Congratulations Grin.

Twins born at 36 weeks here and had jabs at actual dates not corrected dates. Congratulations Flowers

Thanks so much! Obviously I'll be asking the GP next week when we have our 6 week appointment but so far I've found most docs assume things are the same for prem babies and i'm not always convinced that's the case... Appreciate the first hand experiences Smile

Mini - DD saw a paediatrician every month for the first year of her life and her vaccinations were managed by the hospital.

Maybe that is why we seem to be different? No idea.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 01/10/2016 09:06

I have just remembered that because our GP is so busy ours were late anyway. So probably fell between actual and corrected.

I also forgot to say 35 weeker by my dates and no major health problems. So perhaps that's why they didn't need to be delayed.

PotatoBread · 04/10/2016 12:48

34 + 5 DD here and her vaccinations were done at actual date rather than corrected. Infact, she's just had her 12 week vaccinations this morning poor mite

Wetcappuccino · 04/10/2016 12:50

Our 30 weeker had her vaccinations based on actual age, not corrected. In SCBU for 11 weeks so had her first set there.

BumWad · 11/10/2016 19:22

My 32 weeker had vaccinations done at actual age

Spookybitch · 11/10/2016 19:28

34 weeks here and jabs done at actual age. In our case the neonatal outreach nurse confirmed with us at our discharge visit.

Sidge · 11/10/2016 19:32

I'm a practice nurse. We give them at actual age not corrected.

Unless the baby is still in hospital in which case the hospital give them.

Pardalis · 15/10/2016 00:59

28 weeker. All done at actual age

MiniMaxi · 15/10/2016 07:42

Thanks very much everyone!
