Careers allowance when?

I have a 24 weeker on oxygen with pda heart issue. Currently have a claim for dla, nurse seems to think will be awarded highest. Been 3 weeks since we had the claim in but they've said it can take 8 weeks.

When can I claim careers allowance? Do I have to wait until the dla award is back or can I claim it now? Will it be backdated to the date I made the dla claim?

I claimed for mine once I had DLA but I think you can put the form in and then notify them. Sure there's a bit that you tick to say you're applying.

Claims normally backdated to when they're received but might only be til they have all the info

You should definitely get higher rate for the oxygen. And it will be backdated from when you applied. I'd Apply for carers now. You can only claim once you are at home with your baby.
