kidney damage after preeclampsia?

This is my first thread on mumsnet so apologies if I miss something.

I had my first baby (30week gestation) in September last year due to developing preeclampsia. Since then I have been weaned off medication for 3 months and have returned back to normal textbook blood pressure levels. However I still have trace protein in my urine.

The gp surgery nurse doesn't seem concerned and has effectively signed me off, but I have read that a link has been found between preeclampsia and later onset kidney disease.

Has anyone experience of continued protein in urine months later?

Has anyone been offered a debrief after preeclampsia and discussed future renal issues?

Thanks for reading!

Were you under the care of an obstetrician/obstetric physician in the run up to your baby's birth? If so, I would ask for a debrief with him/her.

I also had pre-eclampsia and prem birth, and was offered a debrief around 8 weeks later. It was invaluable. My consultant helped me understand what had happened in my pregnancy and gave me advice for planning future pregnancies. He also ran a load of tests, including kidney function.

Thanks whatkatydidnt.

I don't know who I was under at the hospital. I was in for a month and saw 9 different consultants during that time, none of whom were the consultant named on my notes, which I no longer have to reference either.

I will look into getting a debrief somehow!
