Contractions at 16 weeks

Hello,

I'm new to mums net. For 3 days I suffered the worst pain ever from fibroid degeneration. At guest I thought it was bad gas but after 1 day and sleepless night I went to go who prescribed paracetamol and codeine. The pain was more bearable but still horrible. Yesterday (day 3 of pain), I went to hospital and they did internal and scan and baby was fine but they told me that the acute pain from the fibroid degeneration was causing contractions that have now shortened my cervix to only 1.6mm. This means I have an increased risk of miscarriage. They said if the contractions don't stop there's nothing they can do. That was yesterday and today the pain hAs practically gone a bit achy. I'm 16 weeks and 42 it's my first pregnancy. I can't stop crying but trying to be strong and think I might still be able to hold on to my baby. I've got an appointment at cervix place Monday morning. Anyone been through anything similar or any advice. Thanks

Hi Nancy, how are you doing?
I just stumbled across your message. I hope you and your baby are doing ok.
For many complex medical reasons I had contractions at 18 weeks, I was out on total bed rest, hospitalised and had previously been given given a cervical suture. I'm not sure if any would be applicable in your case but with a combination of those and medication I stayed pregnant until delivering my son at 24 weeks. He had a long nicu stay but is now 2 and perfectly healthy.
I hope things have stabilised x
