can you not hand them into the neonatal unit? we did with DSs when he outgrew them. they use the handed in ones to dress unexpected babies (as preemies normally are) until their parents can get clothes for them and theyre all laundered on site.

What a lovey thing to do Smile

I started having contractions this weekend at 30 weeks, thankfully it was stopped but I'm posed and ready to go back at anytime.

I'm having so much trouble trying To get smaller clothes, least not as we have just relocated abroad and having only been here a week I don't know my way around!

It would be a huge relief to know the hospital had some clothes ready for ds should he come sooner...I'm sure your local hospital would be more than happy to take them off your hands for you

I know I could give them to the local unit, but I remember how exciting it was to dress her in her very own clothes, rather than the unit ones. If there was someone about who had a tiny one, I would have loved to have passed them on. I felt quite emotional looking at all her tiny clothes again...

I gave all mine to the SCBU ... They were very grateful

Our Scbu said they had loads when I offered. I kept a few. A couple I have. Dd now has some on her dolls and the rest I offered on the bliss forum and sent them to someone off there.

Yep - I gave all my DTDs tiny clothes to SCBU (only one was in there, she was 3lbs 7 - they were actually happy to get a size or 2 up from the very tiniest)

Can I ask when they will start wearing clothes? My dd is four days old, was 2lb110z born on Wednesday, and so far has only worn a tiny little hat to keep her temp right. When can I start dressing her? And what can she wear? There are so many tubes and wires on her that I can't conceivably see how she can wear clothes!

Mama1980 · 09/02/2015 11:50

Dance I hope your dd is doing well? I had my sons 26 and 24 weeks. With my youngest 24 weeks 1lb and actually the stronger of the two he only started wearing clothes once he was in a cot, and off the heat mat so quite a long while. I used the site Pop'n'grow who sell clothes that are designed to fit around the tubes and be easy to put on and off.

I also donated most of my sons prem clothing to nicu/scbu. It can be so hard to find.
