Tw abortion. Head vs heart

Name change.
This is a long one but i’d really appreciate some honest opinions. Found out i’m expecting DC4. Very early days (4 weeks since LMP) I felt happy when I saw those lines. I still do feel quite happy but its overshadowed by the doubts.

My husband really does not want another baby, he obvcourse has stated that it’s entirely my choice but has been clear on his feelings. His reasons are entirely practical.

We’d need to sell our lovely car to trade for a 7 seater - or buy a second car which is obviously expensive

We manage OK, a nice life not financially struggling with a good work life balance, and a nice holiday once a year. He doesn’t think this would be do able with another child and thinks we’d be stretched.

Our kids are all more independent and in school, would be a 7 year age gap between youngest and newborn if we continue. He thinks this would be difficult, now we were getting our life back on track and have more freedom.

With our other 3 he was so happy, he is such a supportive partner and a wonderful dad. I know all his points are so true and he is entitled to feel like this but its breaking my heart. I have not told or spoken to anyone IRL and I just don’t know what to do.

I genuinely don’t know if I could manage a termination, I don’t know that I’m mentally strong enough. I feel love for this baby, I feel joy and excitement but it’s so clouded. My heart says we CAN do this, DH will come round. My head says I need to do what is best for my family as is.

Has anybody else been in this situation? Can you move on from an abortion you weren’t sure on? Will it fracture our marriage regardless of what I decide :( ? I am struggling so badly right now x

Listen to your heart/gut when it comes to decisions like this one. Trust me, this is coming from someone who has went through with the abortion when my head was so clouded at the time. I didn’t listen to my gut feeling, and my mental health has suffered so so much since. In my opinion, it is not worth the trauma and mental struggle to go through a termination unless something is very wrong health wise. I would have much rather had my baby and gone through whatever hardship that entailed than to be sitting here empty handed wondering about the what ifs for the rest of life. Don’t have the abortion unless you 100% want to and feel its the right thing for your family. Dont let your partner influence you one way or another - it may also help to speak with a therapist/professional about this.

Thankyou so much. This is what I’m worried about. That I end up wracked with guilt and regret when I know its not something I want to do. Just dont know whats for the best

Hi op,
I really feel for you. Sending a hug.
had you talked together about what would happen if this happened? Who was responsible as it were for the contraception? I think that matters because his position is potentially a bit off

Listen to your heart. Choose hope and love over fear.
