My experience of a medical termination after an unexpected fourth pregnancy

I just wanted to share my experience. As a mum of three beautiful children we found out we were unexpectedly pregnant with a fourth. I get really unwell and mentally unstable during pregnancy so I knew I wasn’t ready for another even though I have the space and heart to love a fourth.
So we decided on a termination. We went through MSI who had been brilliant with arranging appointments and giving me all the information we needed. I was very keen on surgical as I heard medical route was painful and I just wasn’t mentally prepared for it. However due to my faith I was working in a given time frame for when the termination would be deemed ok. For this reason with the surgery date they offered was too far, I was already 6 weeks+3. So I had to take the medical route.

I really had to brace myself mentally but now that it’s passed and I’ve had time to think about the process. It wasn’t as bad as I had imagined.

Friday 8am took the first tablet at the clinic, then went home and just gave myself a duvet day. My husband looked after the kids and basically gave me everything I wanted or needed in bed.
The next morning, 8am I just didn’t even give myself time to think about it and put the four up vaginally. Then got back into bed to let it do its thing, hubby cuddled me and I had actually dozed off for a hour and half. I woke with an urge to go to the toilet, I ended up passing lots of clots by 10.30.
Then I was just on and off the toilet for about an hour. It came to the last two tablets and I just did that and got back into bed.

Pain wise honestly was like a normal period for me during the first 4 hours. Lots of bleeding but manageable, around hour 5 I did get some really intense cramps but managed to breath through them. Took first painkiller at this point which was ibuprofen.

Then watched a series for most of the afternoon, dozed off again for a few more hours. It was by 5pm I felt more normal, myself and just like I was on a heavier period.

i don’t know what I got myself into a tizz about but I think I just struggled more emotionally than the whole physical side to it. But I definitely feel happy with my decision as just the first few weeks of knowing I was pregnant had me in a spiral.
