hi girls, I’m having a planned section in 2 weeks and am slightly scared as a chunkier girl with belly flab that I will develop an infection or my incision will hurt !! How was your experience? Any recommendations with healing and tips?

please let me know ❤️

Good luck, all the best to you.

I had a c-section and it went really well. Really small scar 13 months on and it's hidden well below my pubic line.

Once you have your dressing removed, air out your wound as much as possible and wear loose trousers (think summer harem style pants). This will help with airflow and healing. Your midwife and HV will check your scar once you're home, and you are able to return to maternity triage within 28 days of the birth if you have any concerns about it - there is a lot of support available.

My scar healed fast and I was up and walking within 4 hours - although this was because my daughter ended up in the NICU. Pack extra clothes just in case - I stayed in hospital for 11 days in the end because of her!

My other big tip is to bring a mug, hot chocolate, coffee etc for yourself. It's so much nicer than having the awful hospital tea out of a cardboard cup!
