Wine in pregnancy; really worried.

Hi all,
I’m 18 weeks and I can’t stop worrying about the alcohol I had earlier on.

Before I knew I was pregnant (around 6 weeks) I went to a wedding and got quite drunk.
At 8 weeks (still didn’t know) I had two small glasses of wine mixed with lemonade.

Then at 15 weeks I had one glass on the Friday and two on the Saturday.

Now I’m absolutely panicking that I’ve harmed the baby or caused FAS. I know the advice is not to drink at all, but it’s done now and I’m really beating myself up. 😞

Has anyone else had similar amounts and everything been fine?

And does anyone actually know if this kind of occasional drinking can cause FAS? I keep googling and scaring myself silly.

Any reassurance or experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you ❤️

Also I will add I will absolutely NOT drink again in pregnancy I feel so bad.

Really don’t worry @ZingyDuck. So many babies are conceived when the DM has had more than enough alcohol and many DMs don’t realise that they are PG for a while and do drink alcohol.

If you’re having trouble abstaining though, do talk to your MW Flowers

I agree with @SleafordSods. While it's not good to have alcohol during pregnancy, I think that FAS is much more likely to occur when alcohol consumption is regular. Having a few drinks spread out over weeks is unlikely to do much damage. I remember seeing posts here in the past from women saying they drank a few times against their better judgment, and that their babies suffered no ill effects. That being said, I'm glad you are resolved not to take any more chances for the rest of your pregnancy, as it's not worth the risk if you can help it. Hoping things go smoothly!
