Lewisham maternity care?

Hi there,

This is my first time on Mumsnet, and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant with my first baby, so a lot of new experiences! I’ve been looking at which hospital to refer to for pregnancy care, we’re in Bromley and it seems Lewisham has better reviews than Princess Royal, but when I selected it on the NHS website it asked me if I would prefer University Hospital Lewisham or Queen Elizabeth Hospital Greenwich. I’d love to know of anyone’s recent experiences with either of these so I can make a more informed choice? I’ll be having a c-section.

It also then asks Birth Centre or Labour Ward, and again I’d love to know people’s experiences with each of those.

Thanks so much!

I think you want the pregnancy forum (under becoming a parent) rather than pregnancy choices. I had my daughter in Lewisham in the birth center and it was lovely - clean private massive room, got to stay all day, discharged same night, midwives were kind and supportive. Obviously the giving birth part itself was horrible! But depending where you are, I'd probably prioritize location.

Thank you so much, I’ll re-post there, but really appreciate you sharing your experience!
