Unwanted Induction at 41 Weeks

Hello,
I’m hoping someone might be willing to share any advice or similar experiences. Apologies that this is long winded and I hope it makes sense!
I am 40 weeks pregnant with my second child, my first was born at 31+5 via C-Section. There was no labour and no contractions, so I’m pretty much a first timer here!
I have been having growth scans throughout my pregnancy. Baby has been growing steadily at 50th percentile, which we are so grateful for! At the 36 week scan, the sonographer could only get a vague head measurement due to his head being so low, and she said that his tummy was big. He jumped up slightly on the scale to just under the next percentile line. At 39 weeks, a different sonographer couldn’t get a head measurement at all and struggled to get a tummy measurement. The growth then plotted back down at the 50th percentile, so on track from the rest of the pregnancy, but lower than the last scan.
I have just been for another scan to measure fluid and blood flow, all of which are fine and baby is lovingly kicking the crap out of me daily. However, the consultant has said that they do not want me to go over 41 weeks due to growth slowing, and I have reluctantly booked an induction for next week. I have said that I’m not happy making a decision based on the last 2 scans as I saw that both sonographers struggled to get measurements so I don’t feel they are accurate. The doctor understood this but said it was “all they had to go off.”
I really don’t feel good about this decision and want to cancel the induction. Has anybody done this and what was the process after this? They weren’t very forthcoming with what the process would be in terms of monitoring if I cancelled the induction.
Also, is there anyone who has had a previous C-Section who has been induced using the balloon? I have heard from friends and family experiences that induction takes longer, so I feel that I will just end up being taken for another C-Section anyway.

From my experience with my first child, I really strongly want to try for VBAC and I just don’t feel right about having an induction based on measurements that were difficult to get!

Thank you so much if you’ve read this far and are willing to share ❤️
