Had a growth scan at 36+4, baby is on 91 percentile and estimated to be 7lb 10oz currently. This will be my third baby, previous babies were 8.5, 8.10. If they continue to grow at this rate, baby could be close to 10lb by due date
I was told I could do nothing, and go into labour naturally but was given the risks associated with birthing a bigger baby. Or I could have an induction/elective c section at 39 weeks (I’m allowed a few sweeps prior)
History - first baby came 39+5, long (33hrs) painful latent labour, epidural, couldnt push her out, ending in forceps which tore my cervix causing a huge PPH. I was poorly for 2/3 months and traumatised. Second baby healed me, 40+3, and I had an amazing labour. 8hours from first contraction, but 1-10cm in 1hour once waters broke and 19 mins of pushing. Barely made it to hospital. No pain meds (wasn’t time!)
Really struggling to make a decision on how to birth baby number 3. Do I just try and birth a big baby (if measurements are accurate), hope I get to hospital in time and if something goes wrong and then deal with the emergency delivery then? And risk another traumatic experience… even though it could be wonderful and I could be in and out the same day with no complications.
Do I take the induction (but scared it will take forever and then be super painful which could lead to assisted delivery/section anyway) has anyone got experience of a quick induction after a quick natural birth??? Or I book a c section (which could be pushed back and the baby comes naturally anyway) and have to deal with the recovery with 2 small children at home but take no risks of shoulder dysplasia/big tears etc
Any experiences would be great to hear
thank you
