Help With Medical Management

Hi!
I went to my 12 week scan and they found fluid around the baby’s whole body. They sent me to fetal medical where I had another scan and they confirmed baby had fluid all around his body and the baby was to small the baby isn’t going to make it much longer after birth. I have decided to go with medical management they told me I would be taking mifepristone Monday and then misoprostol Wednesday but said I had to wait in the hosptial until the baby has passed. I will be 15 weeks pregnant and don’t want to stay in hosptial for this. Can I just take the tablets and pass the baby at home? Does anyone have experience with this please? Thank you!

Hello @Carly96, I'm not a medical professional, but 15 weeks is far along enough to where the baby would be about the size of an apple or pear, meaning that would be quite a lot to deal with at home. I'm a little surprised that they are doing abortion by pill at that stage, maybe it is a higher dose than is usually given? I'm wondering because normally abortion by pill is until 10 weeks.

I'm very sorry for this tragic development in what I'm assuming was a wanted pregnancy. I can't imagine the pain you are going through, and the shock you must have felt when the doctor said your baby would not live much past birth. I hope you have kind friends and family who can emotionally support you at this time. My sincere condolences and I'm sorry you are going through this.

Thank you for getting back to me @SilverScales . Yes I will be having a higher dosage than usually, I will be put into labour as they said it. Yes this pregnancy was very wanted. Sadly I have to do what’s best for me and baby. Thank you for all your kind words. I haven’t told any family or friends just my parents so this has been a little hard but me and my partner have been there for one another. Thank you

I'm sure it's going to be a very hard time to go through, Carly. If they want you to come in to the hospital there's probably a good reason and I don't want you to have to try to manage it by yourself. May your heart heal in good time, be gentle with yourself.
