I’m pregnant with 4th baby, I’m 38. We already have 3 boys (19, 17 and 5). This pregnancy wasn’t planned and I’m so worried about something going wrong, it being too much or having a negative affect on our family. Really struggling to decide what is best for myself and my family.

I’m a year older than you and have three children. Unexpectedly fell pregnant four weeks ago. I won’t lie, I was absolutely terrified and cited your reasons as well as having had a rubbish birth with our last.

We decided it wasn’t right for us and the cons really outweighed the pros and went ahead with a medical abortion. But only you can decide. We did yo-yo back and forth for a couple of days but ultimately in our heart of hearts knew it was right for us.

Your age gaps aren’t too dissimilar to our children either (19,11 and 5).

A surprise pregnancy is always such a shock, I'm sorry things happened this way, Alexjcs. However, there's such a huge gap between your older two and your five year old, it's almost like the youngest will grow up as an only child. Have you considered whether having another child would be a welcome addition to your family? Sometimes the best things in life are not what we planned. Of course this choice is yours, but I hope you'll take your time deciding, as it can be hard to listen to your heart when your mind is racing and full of panic. What does your partner think?

Iam also 38 and have just found out im pregnant with my 5th. Totally unplanned and unexpected.
