Continue pregnancy after abortion-twins

Hi, I’m reaching out because I really need some advice and support. I made the difficult decision to have a medical abortion at 9 weeks for personal reasons. It was an incredibly hard choice, and I took both pills – one orally and four inserted vaginally. I took 4 weeks to make this decision, as it was very emotional for me.

After the procedure, I still felt unwell, even though I experienced some bleeding, which has continued lightly. I didn’t notice anything pass, but I did feel something, although I wasn’t able to check due to having an upset stomach. Eventually, I decided to go for a scan, and to my shock, I discovered I was pregnant with twins. One sac still has a heartbeat, while the other doesn’t. This news has left me devastated and very confused.

I’m 34, and this is my first pregnancy. My heart is telling me to continue with the pregnancy, but I’m really scared about potential complications now, especially given the circumstances. To make matters more complicated, my partner and I are going through a breakup, so I’m feeling very unsure.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation with an ongoing pregnancy after a medical abortion? If so, what was the outcome? Any advice or support would appreciated... also after I took the pill I started smoking alot like 2 boxes in 3 days that's 40 cigarettes because I was really stressed I didn't know I had ongoing pregnancy.

that sounds like a horrendously tough time. its ok to continue- the thinking appears to be if the pregnancy survives the tablet then its ok. please listen to your heart- the practicalities can get sorted out. it sounds like accessing some counselling etc would be useful to process everything that has gone on and to support you. wishing you all the best as such a difficult time x

Thank you this means alot. It is very tough as my ex partner isn't supportive either. I do have a good family and pray everything is fine.
