Bleeding almost 4 weeks after medical abortion

I will be 4 weeks post termination in 2 days time. I’m still testing positive on home tests and had a faint positive on the clinics 3 week test and I am having to repeat at the 4 week mark. Iv had bleeding on and off since taking the pills, at first i was passing clots very heavy then it slowed down for about a week. After a week I had some heavier bleeding, more like a normal period, for a few days. Called NUPAS nurse said if I was active (had been moving furniture around so I was) then it could happen and to take it easy. The bleeding then died down again to more like brown discharge. Last night however I felt a big gush and ran to the toilet, the blood was similar to after I had just taken the tablets on the first day. I then passed a small (about a 20p size) clot. After this the bleeding stopped (I only bled like this for about 5/10 minutes) I am now back to having brown discharge- and it’s only really noticeable when I wipe.

is this normal?? I called NUPAS and I’m booked for a scan next week so I am not asking for medical advice just wondering if anyone else has had similar.

The nurse also seemed concerned that I might be pregnant again- as we have had unprotected sex but I thought I wouldn’t be able to pregnant as I am still testing positive and surely I can’t ovulate with pregnancy hormones still high enough to get a strong positive on tests.

Sweeeetie, I don't have advice for you, but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry that you're going through this upsetting situation. You are one of the regulars on this board and you are such a caring person, a sweetie just like your username. My eyes filled with tears as I read about your bleeding experience, it must be awful and you must just long to be done with this. I am glad you are booked for a scan so you can get checked out and get some answers. I'll be thinking about you and hope everything is okay. Take good care of yourself 💛

@NeonCarrot Thank you this has genuinely been the worse experience of my life. I thought the hard bit was over but now I feel stuck in limbo not being able to move on and try to put things behind me. The only light at the end of the tunnel for me is thinking that we can try for a baby again next year when things feel like a better time. I’m now worrying myself senseless that something is wrong and I won’t be able to have anymore children.

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry. That is truly a situation almost impossible to endure, just try to keep as calm as you can, as the worst case scenario rarely comes to pass. If you told NUPAS your symptoms and they thought it was okay to wait until next week, then most likely it is not a high-risk medical problem. From what I understand, complications are more likely from surgical procedures such as D&E. Breathe, drink lots of water and tea, maybe take some melatonin or other rest aids at night so you can get some sleep and you'll have answers soon. I pray the hard part of your ordeal will be over soon so you can start to emotionally heal from all this.
