Cannabis and disclosing

Has anyone had experience using marijuana throughout their pregnancy in the uk and how it was handled by medical staff? I smoke for my mental health after being on antidepressants that made me a zombie for 7 years, it allows me to function and stay on top of my depression/anxiety and now also the nausea with being in my first trimester it’s helpful to get food down and improve my appetite. I’m just concerned to be deemed as unfit/ a danger to my child so I don’t even want to disclose it. But I know not being honest will probably paint me in a worse light. This is my second pregnancy so Im also worried there would be concern for the well-being of my older child although I only smoke cannabis after bedtime or when I will be alone for a few hours. I have tried stopping but the impact on mental health makes it very difficult to manage day to day tasks and I need to remain functional. I’d be grateful for any advice or suggestions or just sharing experiences you’ve had. Feeling stuck and like a failure to this baby already..TIA

Hey OP. I’m not speaking from my own experience here but a friend smoked cannabis throughout her pregnancy and did not admit it. Her reasons for smoking it were the same as yours. The reason she didn’t admit it is because of your worry and concern. They’ll do a drug test and then it opens a can of worms for visits etc. Personally, I wouldn’t admit to it when they ask if you use drugs / alcohol. I’ve only been asked the question once at my first ever appointment. That said, I don’t know whether they test your bloods without knowing for drugs etc. Can you maybe switch to CBD oil for the pregnancy? Or speak to your doctor? Sorry I can’t help further

I'd be more worried about the effect cannabis would have on your unborn baby.
