TFMR - help!

Hi

I am currently 12 weeks and 5 days.

At my first NHS scan (was dated 11 weeks and 5 days) I was told that our babies arm had not developed properly and would be classified as physically disabled.

We were referred to fetal medicine who confirmed the diagnosis. They also that my umbilical cord only has 1 artery, and that this can have an impact on the development of the baby and cause further health issues. We have been booked in another scan at 16 weeks to see if they can see any of the organs to see if the umbilical cord has impacted, although there is no guarantee that this will be seen on this scan or any scan.

Both me and my partner are devastated, and whilst we know someone with limb difference can live a full life. We both feel that we would both find it incredibly difficult to watch them struggle with different things throughout their life, I think it is inevitable that there would always be things they struggle with/find more difficult.

We are considering a TFMR, and just wondered if anyone had any experiences of this, what the process was like, how they felt afterwards, whether there was any impact on their fertility afterwards.

We both feel so bad for considering this option, but we both feel that we are going to really emotionally struggle.
I am already feeling the emotional effects - not sleeping, barely eating, can’t concentrate on anything else, lost interest in things I once loved, don’t want to see anyone, don’t want to leave the house and I am really worried about my own health and wellbeing. But also don’t want to be selfish.

thank you
