BPAS experience so far

I found out I was pregnant on the 27th November after 2 positive tests. Worked out I was about 8 weeks. Submitted a BPAS form and had a scan appointment come through for the 4th November, a week later. On the morning of this appointment it was cancelled due to staff sickness and rearranged for the Friday on the same week. My partner and I were half way there and they called and said it was cancelled again due to sickness, even though it was a different location!
The lady on the phone was helpful, saying they were sorry to mess me about and I will have a telephone consultation the next day on the Saturday and they can decide on the phone whether I need a scan as I was obviously very annoyed and anxious if they booked me another scan it would get cancelled.
Today I had the consultation over the phone with a midwife. She didn’t seem to know that the last two scans had been cancelled, and wanted to book me in for a scan on the 18th December (another 2 weeks away!). After explaining everything and said I am not waiting any longer, they have booked me in for a scan on the 12th December, then the surgical abortion on the 15th. I wanted as soon as possible, which means we have to travel 2 hours for the scan and then 3 and a half hours for the treatment.
I’m having to have a surgical abortion as I am now over 10 weeks, as the two scans were cancelled. The midwife on the phone did not seem bothered about this, just said ah that is frustrating.
I’m sure everything will be fine once it’s done and I’m not sure really what the aim of this post is. Just to rant a bit I suppose. I have read lots of good experiences with BPAS on here so maybe this is not a regular thing. If I ever have to go through this again I will not be using BPAS.
I will update after it is all sorted if anyone is interested. X

How are you doing firsttime? Has your mind changed at all since you started this journey? Sometimes when the initial shock wears off, we find ourselves open to other paths. I just hope you're doing okay, with clearness of mind and heart. The only thing that is always true about life is that is never goes the way we expect it to. Be well.

I wanted to add that bpas are only available or accessible in certain areas. When I contacted them they couldn’t treat me and referred me to my local service (the alternative was to go private and pay with them). If I did get treatment with them it would have been a few miles from home.

I have heard that their service is amazing but I think it really depends on where you live. Although the person on the phone should have been friendlier and the waiting time is torture.

Hope you are ok though

I am sorrry to hear about your experience. I am surprised they could cancel like that last min.

I am booked for a surgical abortion. I have been asked to take a Mifepristone tablet before the procedure to soften my cervix. Did you have to do this? If so, what was your experience?

also, how was this managed considering your abortion had to move by a few days
