I have taken the first pill and due to take the second tonight, I have numerous reasons for doing so which I don’t want to go into detail about

But I have a baby to look after so I’m thinking to take the second pill at night once she sleeps but I’m so scared of the pain :( will I be ok to wake up for night feeds or will the pain take over has anyone had any experiences of this or something similar thanks

Hi so sorry you have to go through this. The pain is different for everyone for my personal experience the pain wasn't as bad as I had made myself believe. My second tablets took 2 hours 45 mins to kick in and then I started bleeding. I took 2 ibuprofen before hand and then kept on top of the ibuprofen and a hot water bottle constantly at my tummy. Please feel free to keep messaging on this for constant support if you are home alone and especially with a little one it can be very lonely x

Thankyou so much for your reply it’s my first time using Mums net so it’s so nice to have someone to go through this with; even if it is online

yes I’m most worried about my little one , she does usually sleep through the night but still really nervous.

did you take the codeine as well? I only have the 200mg ibuprofen at home, so I’m thinking to take three of these and then one codeine tablet beforehand?

thanks again x

I didn't take the codeine I'm a little anxious when it comes to taking pills so I started off with the ibuprofen and that's all I needed and kept on top of that along with paracetamol. Do you have a hot water bottle? because that was a must for me x

Hi,

I’ve only taken the four tablets of the misoprostol and I started bleeding a few hours later (cramps were minimal)
the toilet was full of blood, and I felt a clot however my pad isn’t soaked

i haven’t taken the additional two tablets as I am only 5 weeks pregnant and I feel like the pregnancy has / is passing even though then bleeding isn’t too much

has anyone else only taken the four tablets rather than all 6?

Bless you, how are you getting on now ?
I was advised to talk the 6 and I'm glad I did as even after the 6 I still had retained tissue so there could still be a bit to come away but speak to a healthcare professional about it as they'll be better at giving advice x

Hi there, how did you know you had retained tissue?

I took the tablet on the 20th second ones on the 22nd of last month, was just over 6 weeks I think.
bled for just over a week it tapered off at stopped, yesterday I’m back to bleeding again?

help! Scared and worried! And just want to forget about this!!

Hey. So I knew because I started bleeding heavy again they took me in for a scan and I had 2cm retained tissue but I was only 2 weeks since I took the pills at home. They put me on a week long worth of antibiotics and on the 3rd day I started bleeding extremely heavy with clots and had a scan the other day and everything had passed. Woman can bleed upto 6 weeks after which just makes the whole process that bit harder because it's constantly on your mind x

hey everyone, Its really soothing to find a community of women that have had to experience this. Theres so much shame and guilt isn't there.
I had a medical abortion 6 months ago. The pregnancy should pass within a week of taking the pills, and you should experience heavy bleeding within 5 days.
you should have received a leaflet which would show you what is normal bleeding and what is not, but it should be a really heavy bleed, like the worst period you have ever had. as it is not a normal period but a post pregnancy bleed. However not too heavy, you shouldn't be soaking maternity pads more than every few hours.
You should pass a few clots that are larger than you would see in a period. You kind of just know when the pregnancy has passed, they say. For me, I bled very heavily but didn't get the sense it had properly passed, until 3 days later I went to the toilet and felt it pass.

if your body doesn't pass all of the pregnancy tissue on its own, within a few weeks you will feel unwell as its likely to cause a mild infection of sorts. So you have to watch out for feeling feverish, shivery, stomach pains etc for a month or so after. any of these symptoms and you should go to A&E or a walk in clinic to make sure its not that! as an infection of the uterus can be serious and affect future pregnancy. But its sooo RARE! so don't think its likely to happen to you.
Hope you are all well and doing okay after going through what I felt is a very traumatic experience xx
