BPAS Medical Abortion

Hey, just wanting a bit of advice please as I'm so terrified. I'm 20 and will be having a medical abortion this week and will be almost 6 weeks. What we're everyone's experiences after taking the first pill to prevent the pregnancy growing/how long did you wait after to insert the rest? And how were your pain experiences overall and with painkillers? Could you return to work the day after? I'm awfully scared about it all and just want to be okay as you hear of all horror stories and the odds of different risks happening. This is also my first pregnancy and I feel so guilty but we're just not ready and I fear how it will affect me mentally afterwards too. Anything is so appreciated and if there's anyone going through the same right now I would love to be by each others side through it. Thank you! X

Sorry, not going through it at the moment but I was around 6 weeks when I had a medical abortion. It was no more painful than my usual periods (which admittedly are quite painful but nothing a hot water bottle and painkillers can’t handle).

I took a week off work but that was because of my mental health, not physical. I really struggled to make the decision and suffer from severe anxiety, so knew it wouldn’t be easy afterwards. I did have heavy bleeding for a few days after so if you can work from home at all I would, but again I usually have very heavy periods anyway. I followed the instructions that were sent to me and took the second set of pills as soon as I was allowed (I think maybe 24 hours after the first?) just to get it over with.

I was so wrapped up in making the decision that I didn’t really worry about the physical process, and you can read plenty of positive stories on this forum about how it’s nowhere near as bad as people expect.

I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Thank you so much, sorry to hear that you're struggling but glad that it wasn't as bad as what you had originally thought! There's so much scaremongering online x

I went to collect them and for some reason they asked to scan me which wasnt what i was having. I was only going to collect the tablets. They said i cant have the tablets as im 10 weeks 2 days. So confused because from my.last period which is 100000% right i should be 9 weeks 5 days. Im absolutely gutted, im going for a surgical now in 3 weeks and by that time ill be about 13 weeks and now my partner doesnt want me to do it. I know its my choice but how am i meant to go through with it without considering his feelings. Im in the most difficult position ever. Did yours come? X
