Failed Medical Abortion?

June 26th, I went in for a medical abortion at 5 weeks pregnant. Took the Misoprostal, then I took 4 pills 24 hours later by inserting them vaginally. Immediately started bleeding, cramping and clots. Took 4 more 3 hours later in my cheeks of my mouth for 30 minutes but they didn’t dissolve. Just spit out the rest.

Still bleeding today almost 2 weeks later, I was certain it took….. BUT symptoms of pregnancy are coming back or more apparent than before. Extreme indigestion after eating just small amounts of food. (I never have indigestion) Made coffee yesterday (as soon as I was pregnant coffee was no longer pleasant but I loveeee coffee when not pregnant) Had to rush to the washroom to throw up after a sip of coffee. Today made coffee again & the smell made me nauseous.

Failed medical abortion? Or anyone else go through this?

Mind you I did bleed, clots (not big ones) and bad cramps the day of…

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

Yes, it came back pregnant as soon as my pee starting going up the stick. It wasn’t the first morning pee.. (sorry tmi)

Hi, I have an issue where I took the 4 pills yesterday and then the 2nd lot orally 3 hours later. Had quite strong cramping after 2nd lot and passed a few clots, but it’s now well over 24 hours later and I’m not bleeding heavily at all, just when I wipe and some clots when I go to the toilet but that’s it. Unsure what to do I feel like it hasn’t worked (sorry for TMI by the way)

I will add that I am 5weeks and 3 days

I have not, as they said that it could take up to 6 weeks to confirm the completion of HCG to leave my body. My body is acting pregnant still but I did bleed, some clotting, and cramps.. I am still severely nauseous and getting sick. Plus my cravings have increased for “fried chicken with pickles. (not usually something I crave on the daily) I am wondering has anyone else experienced the same thing? Were they pregnant still or just hormones?

I will contact them but I work out of town for 20-30 days. It will be a few weeks before I can go in for an ultrasound or confirmation.

Hi , I have came across this page after having a disappointing conversion with a doctor ( who deals with abortions), looking everywhere for the answer to my question and by the looks off things I am not the only one. Although it very tuff to have to go through this I am glad the honesty I see , The male doctor that scan myself to conform that the pregnancy is continuing.. conformed that although 3+weeks ago I decided to go though with an abortion at home.. 1 tablet then 48hr later 4 inserted and later on that day 4 oral (personal at this moment I'm not sure if I did in fact take the oral one my brain is mush).. after these I experience an upsetting loss of blood which brought the guilt on really hard, but I did accept that I made the decision. 3 weeks later I took the test that was given but came back invalid so took myself to asda and bought a clear blue ( week test ) came back positive 3+ with this information I contact and spoke with some staff regarding this and I got booked in for a scan the next day as prior I thought I may have been further ahead on in the pregnancy so they wanted to confirm the dates. So first scan of this ''pregnancy' I went to the gynaecologist and had a scan done coming back an active pregnancy at 8 weeks, asking what my next step was , straight away I said I would like to continue my pregnancy , personally the doctor was not amused or maybe confused.. couldn't answer any question I had just straight to the point that he has never came across this in his time at the hospital meaning ( a women going through with an abortion for it to fail then continue with it) which got me really upset and worried I followed on by asking on why I pasted so much blood in the first place for it not to off completed.. I never got a answer I left quite upset , the 2 nurses at the front desk stopped me and spoke with me for 30 minute reassuring me , I'm so glad they did as I was a nerves reek. So I am booked in @ a maternity hospital in 2 weeks for a 10 weeks scan, to confirm that the heart beat is there( as he said it not shown until then...) I'm happy but really hating on myself for the fact I may have harmed a health child. I don't believe anyone has the answers for each person experience as all are complete different I think after reading and taking in everyone's situation my question has changed to. After finding out that you are still pregnant , and changing you mind to continue with that, did you receive support? knowledge? and help understanding the what ifs etc.. My apologies if this wasn't the best on explaining something, I would apricate any type of response, but if not I send my love to all you strong ladys Take Care X

Thank you for sharing this post gave me home right now 12 weeks 4 days after taking Miso 4 pills only. I’m worried about the child’s health in the future. May I have an update on your journey now please?

update: they seen some complications. My baby has ectopia cordis which opens from the stomach to heart. The ultrasound is so graphic and very sad to look at. They said it’s not the pills I took nothing I ate. It’s just really bad luck. I am so sad at this moment but I just had to update you guys, because you guys were my support system over the past weeks. The survival rate is very low as 3 doctors told me. so I booked a D&C just on the waiting list now.

My pill abortion failed and see this post . I’m really struggling I must of only been a week and a half pregnant as I’m now 5.2 weeks and had abortion 3.5 weeks ago . But I really regretted it and I feel I can’t make my mind up to continue or not for reasons due to abnormalities. All that is showing is a yolk sack no heart beat . As all my symptoms did disappear but then come back . So I’m worried was starved of HCG or something so will have abnormalities. I don’t know how it works but I have come on here for some support :(
