Abortion experience

Hello, I just had an abortion and for anyone going through or thinking of doing the same thing here's my honest experience which hopefully can help you understand it a little better:

So I found out I was pregnant and I was 5 1/2 weeks, I have never been pregnant before even though I am now 32 but I have been very careful in the past! Me and my partner have been together for a little less than a year & to be very honest I knew I wanted an abortion as soon as I found out due to me not being ready & being in such a new relationship, even though me and my partner do want children in the future but this was unplanned and at a really bad time for myself! I spoke to my partner who was so supportive about my decision and made me feel ok about the whole thing! He is amazing!

I first had a scan to see how far along I was, I cannot remember dates but it was on a Friday, I then had a medical call on the Monday which I completely missed but rang up and they give me the same phone call on the Thursday which took about 30min of questioning with a lovely lady who made sure I was feeling ok about my decision and if I was 100%, she then gave me the run down on how to start this off and told me the pills will be sent out asap. My pills came the next day, friday!

I took the first pill on the Saturday @ 7am, no pain, no bleeding absolutely nothing on the Saturday. I woke up feeling sick on the sunday, could not eat at all, around 2pm Sunday I bled, I got worried but apparently this can happen and I went the toilet and passed a clot with a little bleeding also. I had to wait untill 4pm because I wanted to be on my own for the night to do this. At 4pm I took 2 ibuprofen & inserted the 4 pills into my vagina and lay down.. after 20 mins I began cramping and bleeding! The cramps were not so bad at first, but as an hour passed they become more like contractions, that's the only way I can describe it, severe pain but tolerable and I was concentrating on my breathing which helped, I passed alot of clots some small & some medium sized after the hour mark, so I was on the toilet alot of times, about 2 hours in I felt sick went to the toilet passed some medium clots stood up and was sick in the sink, I felt alot better after this I have no idea why but I'm pretty sure this may have been when I passed the pregnancy! I wore maternity maxi pads which were a life saver as in the first few hours you bleed quite a bit, can get a few packs from boots they're only £1.35! After the cramping contractions I'd always go to the loo as iknew this is when the clots would be coming out to rid the lining and obviously the pregnancy so make sure you're close to the toilet!

In the hight of the pain, this was like a severe period cramping pain if you've ever had those, I took 1 pill of codeine, which helped for me!! I felt pretty tired after taking it though. At around 8pm I inserted the 2 remaining pills and lay down as I was already bleeding but withing 30 mins they get into your system! Still cramping & bleeding, but after the first 4 pills I am pretty sure the abortion happened but I still made sure to take the 2 remaining pills! I changed pads, wore some comfy shorts & lay a towel under me & took 1 more codeine tablet before I knocked out asleep. I fell asleep around half 9 so I inserted those pills at 4pm, the second lot at 8pm fell asleep at 9:30 pm, bleeding and moderate to severe pain throughout, probably changed pads around 5 to 6 times.. I slept all the way through the night, no waking up with pain or anything, thinking that was the codeine. I woke up Monday morning around 9am no clots, but light to moderate bleeding but had headache! I had fruit & water 2 ibuprofen, scrolled on my phone for an hour and fell back to sleep untill 2pm!!! I felt fine when I woke again, better than I have been since finding out I was pregnant and worrying for weeks! On the Monday, the bleeding got lighter and only light period cramps here and there, very manageable! Sunday & monday I had plenty of rest, basically stayed in bed from 4pm Sunday untill late afternoon monday, so make sure you have at least 2 days to rest up and recover! Drink plenty of water & fruit helps if you can eat, I ate fruit! I managed a sandwich Monday evening and kept it down, did not feel sick at all & drank plenty of fluids! I did manage to walk the shops on the Monday evening just for some bottled water but I needed fresh air and I was fine! It's the Tuesday now and I still have light cramps here & there, light bleeding but I am feeling like myself again!!! Throughout I've had the support of my partner and he's been very loving and just kept my spirits high which is nice, I hope anyone reading this has 1 person for support it truly does mean the world and if you don't, feel free to message me as i know this may be a tough time and iknow some people go through this alone so I'm here if you need a chat or some advice!

The weeks leading up to the abortion was worse than the abortion itself for me as I was worrying, feeling bloated, mood swings & just general anxiety & overthinking about the whole thing.

It is not as bad as things that I unfortunately read before hand.. which made me way more anxious than I should of been!! I hope this information helps you in anyway!

Thanks x

You didn't bleed heavily throughout first night? I was wondering what is the best time of the day to start second step as I can't have a rest unfortunately. Nobody knows about it and I have 3kids 2-5yo to take care of 24/7 with a bit help of their father as he is always tired after work and usually having naps🫥
I can't tell anyone. Just have it done ASAP.
