Has my Medical Abortion worked?

Hi everyone,

I found out I was pregnant last week and at this time it's impossible for me to continue with a pregnancy and still be safe, happy and healthy.

Two days ago I took the first abortion pill at the womens health clinic and was told to take the second set of tablets today which I did at around half past eleven in the morning. I was told to expect heavy bleeding and clots a couple of hours after taking them but this hasnt happened? I have only had bleeding when I've been to the toilet (quite thick and sticky looking amounts but overall not at all what I have read is supposed to happen) and I've not even soaked one pad and it's now one o'clock in the morning.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is my bleeding likely to be delayed, or do you think it hasnt worked? I'm planning on phoning my clinic tomorrow but looking for some reassurance/advice as I'm worrying myself sick about complications ect.

How far gone were you? if its fairly early it can be little- i really didn't bleed as much as I expected- didn't really even soak a pad. I hope you managed to speak to the clinic and thet reassured you/ could get you in for a scan to check its all ok. the combination of pills does work for virtually everyone so hopefully its gone as you hoped but adds stress to an already difficult process x

Couldn't get the clinic on the phone today but I've been bleeding a little bit more today. Still not gone through a full pad though. My clear blue digital test put me at 1-2 weeks but the clinic said based on my last period I would be around 8 weeks x

must be so worrying but as you are having bleeding it is a positive sign. in the 'olden days' people often had miscarriages thinking it was a just a period and its the same physical process. i really did not bleed as much as i thought. the tablets combination are very very effective so i am sure its working. i hope you get through to the clinic and get some reassurance. i know i went back up for a scan for them to check everything had completed x
