Hya, I found out i was pregnant a few weeks ago, I filled in the online consultation with Msi, however after waiting patiently for my call that was between 3pm and 4pm I was called at 3.58pm, I was asked security questions, but like a dateless you know what I totally forgot the memorial password I had put, probably with panic of wanting this problem sorted and also not thinking I would need it, any due to failing security my call couldn't continue.
I made contact with my local NHS and had my phone consultation on Thursday last week, I have an appointment on Wednesday for a scan and to tale the first tablet.
However the problem I have is, firstly I really wanted the surgical, this was more for the bleeding side as I bleed heavy and clot on a period and I get scared of this, also for the Mental side too, so I do not see anything, 2nd as I'm over 35 , a smoker and have had 2 or more previous pregnancies, I have to have blood thinners too as I'm high risk of blood clots which scared the shit out of me, but now I'm worrying as I think if I had the surgical one I wouldn't have to have the blood thinners, but my local NHS only do the medical.
Has anyone else had the medical abortion at 40 plus years? How was it? Did you have blood thinners?
I'm so scared, I just want the medical but I'm just over 5 weeks now so don't want to wait any longer, also I'm scared incase I have twins too as they increase with age, so that would be more bleeding.
Please if anyone has been in the same situation, I'd be greatful for any advice 🙏 xx

Can you not ask for the surgical?
My local hospital said they didn’t buy the nurse spoke to the consultant and I got what I wanted.
I’m already on blood thinners but they said I’d have to come off them briefly for either procedure.

Hya, Thank you, she sounded so addiment that they didn't do the procedure, put I'm so scared to start clotting, I had a medical abortion 18 yrs ago and I clotted very bad, they was going ro take me surgery but luckily everything passed without it, but the blood loss terrified me and I was a lot younger then and didn't bleed as bad on the normal period.
I feel like ringing msi again, but I don't want to wait any longer for the procedure xxx

I ended up waiting longer than I had hoped and it made it so much harder.
I’d never had an abortion before but had a miscarriage when I was about 19 that I was devastated about and decided I wanted zero intervention.
I ended up bleeding really heavily and then having surgery because the sack was still there so I totally understand wanting the surgery as well.

Was that when you had the miscarriage?
I have very bad health anxiety, so bleeding like that is scary at any time, but when you over think like me, it makes me feel trapped in a box with no way out, I just want it over and done with and really can't wait any longer, as its so hard, and the longer you wait the harder it is mentally, I did take the morning after pill but didn't work, being 41 and having 3 children already I didn't and do not want anymore, but this still doesn't stop the fact that this will still effect me emotionally as its a horrible thing to go through.
Men have it so bloody easy don't they.
I've just been in panic mode for weeks and really can't cope waiting another week xxx

Yes the bleeding was with my miscarriage.

I couldn’t do a medical abortion, seeing it would have broken me more than I already am.

Even after a surgical abortion you would maybe still need thinners for 6 weeks? I was asked to wear the stockings and the nurse said as I’d had a GA I was still as risk of blood clots even with been back on my thinners.

Men do have it so easy, I said this to my husband. It’s been really hard for him seeing me go through all this hurt so he’s not escaped untouched by it.

Is your scan today?
chat with them when you go and explain all your worries.

Whatifyoufly02 · 31/05/2023 12:17

Hya,
Yeah men do have it easy, but they do still struggle through this their own way.
I have been this morning, had a vaginal scan, had my bloods and have taken the 1st tablets, as I'm on 5 weeks just over won't be bad, I'm just going to get it in my head, it's a period, it's the only way I will get through.
Yes, they have given me 6 weeks worth of blood thinners, she never shown me properly how to do it but I'm sure I will be a pro by the end of the 6 weeks.
I might have to watch it on YouTube or something, I don't want to take them but I don't want a blood clot either, so I will have them.
Thank you for you replys too 😘 xxx

Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Yes definitely take them, blood clots are no fun at all. I had them in both lungs which damaged the bottom of my right lung. I then got a nasty infection which made me so poorly.

Whatifyoufly02 · 31/05/2023 15:19

Aww God not good, are you always on them now?
Is it evening you take them, I just briefly looked at them, as they took my bloods just to check platelets, they have just called to say my bloods are fine, so I will take one this evening, they are proper injections too, I thought they would have been some sort of lancer, for some reason xx

They never gave a clear plan as to how long I would be on them but I’ve been on them almost 3 years now.
I take them in tablet form in a morning but I have been on the injections before.

Glad your bloods are fine.
Get plenty of rest if you can now x

Whatifyoufly02 · 31/05/2023 17:02

At least they keep you from having further blood clots, which is good.
Me too, even though she made a nasty bruise on my arm, as she struggled getting my vein, but hey ho, they are fine so bonus.
I think because I've worked myself up that much and my appointment was so early came back had mac Donald's then fell a sleep for 2 hours, I must have needed it. Thank you xxx
