Hormones after an abortion

Hey everyone,

I had my abortion back in January and my periods returned back in March. I have noticed a major shift in my period, as in its much shorter (only 3-4 days) and my hormones a week before my period are much heightened than anything I've ever experienced before.
I genuinely feel so anxious, depressed and have intrusive thoughts for about 4 days and then my period arrives about a week later, and I am completely fine for a few weeks until the next time.

I have looked up the possibility of PMDD and am considering going to see my GP about it. I wondered if anyone had experienced a change in how their body works after an abortion?

Thanks!

I think our bodies change after birth, abortion and even contraception. After I had my daughter, I'd say my cycle was far less painful and I don't remember being affected by PMS. 5 years later, had a termination, my periods have become longer (up to 7 days) a little heavier and I notice PMS and feeling slightly depressed and dark days prior - this has gone on for 5+ years now. Since being with my partner and being sexually active I've found my period is just less reliable and isn't on schedule as it was before. My point is I think it's normal to witness a change - but always get it checked.

If it is affecting your mood definitly get it checked. Hope you find a way to deal with it that works for you x
