Sweep?

Hi
I am due on the 11th February but my consultant has suggested an induction on the 9th due to previous fast labours.

I am seeing her again on Monday (the 30th) and she said to me at the last appointment she would check my cervix and give me a sweep. I said okay at the time but I am wondering why she would suggest a sweep before the induction date.
Should I accept or decline the sweep as I am rather hoping everything goes as planned for the induction date and I thought that sweeps were normally only offered if you are over term?

Thank you

I think it's because they always offer sweep before inductions just to get things going without the induction option I.e go into labour naturally.

@heartbroken22 thank you for the reply , after I had a scan I saw the consultant and she did not give me a sweep in the end or mention it! She said she was happy to discharge me from consultant care now so I just left it as that! Now it's just a waiting game to see if anything happens before the 9th :) x
