Hi,

I did the medical abortion on Saturday I'm so glad it's done definitely as painful as expected but I got through it and I'm so proud!

But as of today ( Monday) I have been bleeding like I would on my period bright red bloody not too heavy like not filling up a whole pad or anything like that but I went to the toilet and noticed when I was wiping little clots were coming out and as I kept wiping a bigger clot came (not as big as when I was having the abortion) but about im just wondering if anyone experienced this? Or should I be getting medical help?
Any help would be appreciated I have awful health anxiety so this is just not what I need

First of all I’m proud of you, you’ll get through this! It’s been 4/5 years and I’m much happier and content with the choice. I also struggle with health anxiety, any little thing I think I may be dying!
i had my abortion at 18 and was soo worried about bleeding after as I was clueless but it’s normal and small clots will pass too. I think it’s just the lining passing and anything left in there. Do lots of research on after care it helps a lot

Thank you so much!
im feeling so much better today I’ve been digging for answers but I’ve found that it is normal. I worry about my blood loss when I’m on my period I’m terrible!
but im definitely feeling my self today and managed to get out with my little girl!

I've just received my pills and I'm so scared. I lost my mum 2 years ago and my anxiety is the worst it's ever been since her passing. I don't function like I used to I'm not the same person so the thoughts of having another baby (have a 9 year old already) is just to scary! I just wish so much I had my mum here to hold my hand throu this. My OH will be with me but he's not my mum and doent make me feel at ease like she would.
Because im scared of taking the pills im now thinking is keeping it the right choice but I really don't think I'll cope with that choice either, 9 months of feeling like crap, the constant worry something will be wrong and the fear of labour!! I also have a feeling I Will strongly regret having a baby, it's a struggle every day as it is for me never mind with a new born ontop! Im so angry at OH to I am blaming him for this one, I was only waiting to come on to get the coil put back in!! Been with him 12 years and right now I can't even look at him! I just want my mum! I'm 37 but was never really an adult until she's died, ye I did adult things but she was always there to guild me.

@Lesh22 I am in a similar place to you except finished the medical abortion on Monday and have been bleeding really heavy bright red blood today (after it slowing down Tuesday & Wednesday)? Also not flooding pads & mostly bleeding into the toilet and there have been some clots too. Mild cramping & bloated / tender tummy but not bad enough to need any pain killers. I'm trying so hard not to stress buts its really hard not to worry! Has yours slowed down now?

Hi, firstly I’m so sorry for your loss I can totally imagine how you are feeling! But I was the exact same I have a one year old and also had the worst labour ever! I’ve moved miles away from home and literally only have my OH, I was so scared to do it. My OH had to put the pills in me as I was too sacred to do it ( with my consent of course) but I promise you you’ll be absolutely fine I did it and I can’t even go out the house. It’s like a mini labour the cramps are tense but just take tablets before you take the tablets and use a hot water bottle. You’ll bleed and then you’ll get a that labour pain in your bum and that’s when you’ll pass a clot I think I went 5/6 times doing this and then you’ll just have some cramps after for a day or 2, you could be completely different from me you never know! If you ever need any moral support give me a message and I’ll be happy to help :)

Hi, the bleeding is so worrying isnt it but mine was the same. My bleeding has slowed down today compared to yesterday I do still have clots and when I’m at the toilet there is alot more blood than on my pad. I think as long as you aren’t going through 2 pads you should be fine. I think mine will pick back up again as that’s what I did with I was pp with little one

It is so worrying! I'm glad yours has slowed down, fingers crossed mine does too. Do you mind me asking how many weeks you were? I'm just surprised by the amount of bleeding and clots given it was early days for me. I have had surgical management for a miscarriage in the past but never gone through anything like this before otherwise. Trying not to let me crazy thoughts and worries spiral out of control...!

Lesh22 · 08/12/2022 19:54

it might just be getting the last of it out of your system. I’ve also had a surgical abortion too, I was estimated at 8 +2 weeks I never got a scan so I don’t actually know. I’ve been the same constantly checking my self. I have small and abit bigger ones through out the day but I clot on my period also, I have looked on the aftercare and it does say it is normal so I won’t worry too much I know it’s not easy. I always have cramps in the morning and I’m taking pain killers for it
