Surprise pregnancy

Hi

I had my last period finishing October 21st 2022. This period was on my week off of the pill.
on the 21st October my boyfriend went away to work and I haven’t seen him since.
i never started the pill back up after my week off and just continued not taking it (obviously my partner is away so no sex has happened)
I am 6 weeks late, I haven’t had mt period since October 21st
I took a test and it is positive … I am so confused how and why it is positive.

has this happened to anyone before? Or should I take another test?

Have you got a photo of the test? Is it definitely a strong positive and not an evaporation line?

How many days do your periods last, usually? Sperm can survive in a woman's body for at least five days, so if you had unprotected sex near the end of your period, it's possible that you did get pregnant. Usually ovulation happens around day 12-14 (making the day you got your period day 1). At six weeks the results should be pretty clear-- hope you're doing okay 123.

So, id say we last DTD 8 weeks ago, 2 weeks before my “withdrawal” period. It was a full period it lasted 5 days and I was still having my period the day he left.
I done another test this morning and it came back negative - I am so confused. I am going to buy some more tests and try again.

obviously the photo with the line was from last night and the one with no line was from this morning.

That looks like a positive to me, evaporation lines tend to be colourless but yours looks blue and no squinting required. Did the line come up in the time limit? It’s weird that your test today came back negative but it can happen.

try and get a first response test if you can, their lines tend to be sharper and the pink dye is supposed to be more reliable.

Yes I’ve done one this morning, and negative again.

so 3 negative and 1 “positive”

I’m wondering if it’s a chemical pregnancy

How frustrating! I would go to a doctor's office and have a blood test so you can put your mind at ease. It's looking negative though!

Just done a first response … pink test and irs definitely negative.
haven’t had a period in 7 weeks so maybe it’s worth a doctors call incase it’s something suspicious

Thanks for the update, what a relief. Yes, you might want to talk to a doctor if you don't get your period soon. If you've been off and on the pill that could maybe explain an irregular period, but I can't say for sure. Take care!

I got it today!
I rang the doctors for an appointment then 30 mins later I got my period! Typical
