I’m 49, I have 3 teens, I’ve been single for over 10 years I am terrified of this actually being true, but I am getting “thicker” around my tummy area and I feel dizzy…
I know it’s vague and the dizzy etc could be panic, argh.
I dint know who to contact, do I need to get an appointment at the doctors or can I go to a sexual health clinic or the hospital?
w can confirm? All tests I’ve done are negative but I’m also peri menopausal so I don’t trust my hormones…
what’s my first step please? I can’t have a baby now.
im sorry this may be jibberish but I have no one to talk to about this and my therapist is on holiday…

Assuming you've bought actual pregnancy tests & used them correctly if they are all negative (how many?!) then you're not pregnant.
Have you even had unprotected sex?!

Speak to your gp about your symptoms.

Incognitomum11 · 11/08/2022 19:55

Yes I have had unprotected sex. I’m really scared of just trusting the negative tests and finding I am pregnant with no chance of doing anything about it.

When you say you’ve been single for 10 years, do you mean celibate? Or just casual?
What are your periods like? You sound super anxious about whet sounds like a very unlikely situation, but it’s worth checking with your GP about your symptoms. Could be peri menopause.

Incognitomum11 · 11/08/2022 20:01

ive not been celibate no or I would be not worried.
I am super anxious about this coz it would be so awful.
I have the coil so haven’t had periods in years, which isn’t helping right now.
and pitting weight on for no good reason and I’m slim as I’ve always been careful with sugar etc so there is just ok reason. I feel super pregnant.

The first step is a pregnancy test which you've done. And it's negative. Many of them are negative. So you're not pregnant

I think that it's the menopause giving you these symptoms. I had started mine at your age.

Your tummy gets bigger because it is the only place you can store oestrogen.

A negative test is negative.

Incognitomum11 · 11/08/2022 20:07

I think because the first one I did was positive that I’m always going to doubt them

You said they were all negative, now one was positive?

Op, you're 49 with the coil and a pile of negative tests.

I would be shell shocked if you are pregnant.

Incognitomum11 · 11/08/2022 20:30

The first test I did was positive , but I’ve done lots of tests since which have been negative.
I know it seems unlikely. I’ve been the same size and weight my whole life apart from pregnancies so it doesn’t feel right at all.

I would too. If you’ve got symptoms that are worrying you then contact your GP but the first thing they’ll ask if you say you think you’re pregnant is if you’ve done a test. You’ve done a bunch.

knackeredagain · 11/08/2022 20:48

Oh. So you had a positive test first? That changes things. I’d get yourself to the GP. How far do you think you’d be though? Growing tummy sounds like definite positive test territory, so it’s still unlikely, though false positives are pretty rare.

Rowen32 · 11/08/2022 20:59

What was the time frame between positive and negative tests? Could it be a chemical pregnancy?
HCG levels start to drop week 11/12 as far as I know and are at about 50% of their peak at week 15 but if you had lots of negatives it makes sense it was a chemical?
