Still in pain but bleeding stopped

I'm posting this here as technically I had a miscarriage but I was part was down the line with organising to terminate the pregnancy so it doesn't feel right to post in pregnancy loss.

I had been bleeding for a week, scan at 5 weeks showed pregnancy of unknown location, bleeding continued, repeat scan a week later still showed pregnancy of unknown location at 6 weeks but couldn't see anything to suggest ectopic, have a dull ache in left side. Hcg measured at just over 2000. 48 hours dropped to just over 700 & going back in a couple of days for one final test but looking as though miscarriage is going as expected.

Bleeding has stopped but I still feel really crampy & have one sided pain which is getting worse, it's by no means agony & can manage without pain relief majority of the time but have taken some painkillers when needed.

I'm due back at the early pregnancy place on Friday so I'll ask about the pain but just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. Is it just everything settling down or should I be paying it a bit more attention?!

Hi, I suggest you go to A&E.
Last month I had a pregnancy of unknown location, started bleeding at 7weeks and was told it was probably self resolving. Couple days later hcg dropped from 5900 to 3000 ish but had a lot of pain around uterus and radiating to both sides but worst on the right. Went to A&E, was admitted because they couldn't rule out ectopic and 12 hours later had surgery and right tube removed due to nearly rupture.
So please don't wait until Friday! All the best.

Thanks so much for replying 😊. Do you mind if I ask some questions? Don't reply if you don't want to. I will definitely go to get checked out.
Did your bleeding stop when you still had pain?
What was the pain like? I was told if it was really bad / couldn't cope even with pain relief that was when you should go to a&e. This is definitely not on that scale at all but it is definitely there.

The bleeding didn't stop for a week and a half but it was manageable.
I usually get bad period pains and to be fair I had a couple of periods as painful as the pains I was having. I was told to use period pains as reference, and I just went to get it checked because it was taking a little bit to settle even taking painkillers. I was just afraid of "ignoring" something serious because I was used to that kind of pain. And I'm glad I did!
Maybe use your period as reference? And don't wait until the pain is unbearable, because if it's ectopic, maybe the tube can be saved.

Thanks so much, that's been really helpful. Am waiting for a call back from the early pregnancy place about what to do!
