Advice after medical abortion

Hi all, I had a medical abortion 8 days ago, bleeding has been pretty consistent all the time, yesterday it seemed a bit less and more brown. However today it has been much heavier and feels like every time I walk around it is coming out. Then I got up to go to bed and I felt something fall out (I am wearing sanitary towels) and went to the loo and it looked to be a huge clot. I had had cramps for the 2 hours or so leading up to this. Should I be concerned?
Also how long did everyone’s bleeding last for after abortion?

Sounds like you had a bit of something retained - how is the bleeding now?

I’m lying in bed now, with slight cramping. Honestly been so nervous to move all day as every time I walk around it’s been so heavy today. I haven’t felt the need to call the BPAS helpline once but today with the heavy bleeding it’s made me considerate it. I am just hoping the bleeding starts to slow down soon!

If that clot was the retained bit it should get better from now on. Did they tell you when to test to check your HCG was dropping/back down?

Do call the advice line in the morning if you’re worried, they’ll know if it sounds normal or not. In the meantime keep hydrated, and look after yourself!

Yeah hopefully that’s the end of it. To be honest up till today I’ve felt fine, other than the bleeding, it’s all been totally manageable.
I have to test when it’s been 3 weeks since I took the first tablet. 12 days to go 😥
I’m not usually one to panic and worry but with this process I felt very nervous as it all feels so out of your control how your body will react.
thank you xx

Hiya,
just messaging as I may be having medical abortion and I’m worried. How did it go for you?

Ehc1989 · 11/07/2022 06:50

Hey - yeah since this post everything has got better. 2 weeks later I just have very slight bleeding now. How are you doing?

IM glad everything has got better for you. I’m really confused. I already feel depressed time to time and have a 15 month old baby. I don’t think I can actually look after another baby, but I’m so scared to take the pills. I also keep thinking am
i killing a life 😞

I was really scared too but honestly it was no where near as bad as I had read other posts online. You have to do what’s right for you, I do feel guilty but I know 100% I made the right decision for my family at this time.
how many weeks pregnant are you?

You didn’t see anything in a form of a baby right? Saw so many posts like this, and it scared me. I’m 8 weeks. What were you?

Ehc1989 · 11/07/2022 16:51

I didn’t look at all to be honest, I didn’t want to see anything. But I didn’t expect really to see a baby. I was around 6/7 weeks pregnant.
Have you called bpas or Marie stopes at all yet? They can offer counselling before you do anything
