Positive test after abortion

Hi all, I had a medical termination 3 weeks ago so did my pregnancy test today as instructed but still getting a very positive result. The line is so much darker than the control line. I’ve contacted NUPAS who have advised to wait another week but I’m so worried it hasn’t worked. All my pregnancy symptoms have gone and I bled so heavy after taking the medication so I just presumed everything had gone as planned but would my test be negative by now or at least be a faint positive? Anyone had the same?? Thanks

Hi I am having the same problem myself now but feel like some pregnancy symptoms are still increasing (frequently peeing and my appetite went at first now I can’t stop eating) I’m just wondering if there’s a chance I still could be pregnant

How many weeks were you? Can you ring your local EPAD and arrange a scan?

waiting another weeks seems unnecessary and cruel when it’s already been 3. Hope you get a resolution, sorry not to be able to help/say more.

Hi hope you’re ok. I waited another week but was still getting a very positive test so contacted my EPU. They did bloods first and my HCG was still 9400… had a scan and although I’d had really heavy bleeding after the abortion meds and passed lots of big clots there was still lots of tissue left and an empty pregnancy sac. I had an MVA last week to remove everything. Still tested positive a few days ago but a lot fainter so I’m hoping I can soon move on.

you may still be pregnant… it can fail or might be like me. Did you have much bleeding? Xx

For the first day yes but nothing major after that’s feel like I haven’t passed all the pregnancy tissue properly I keep getting light cramps and the blood is now just basically spotting and mainly brown.

I have had a few clots but nothing to say it was pregnancy tissue just looked like normal clots.

Hi I’m in same situation testing positive still at 3 weeks and then tested last night so at just under 4 so not even fmu and still positive. I had mine with MSI and rang them straight away last week, they told me it can take up to 6 weeks to get a negative (wish they told me at the time) but they had a drop in this Friday at a clinic an hours drive away, which I can attend for a scan, so I have my name on list to be seen. Just want this whole experience over with. Let me know how you get on it’s just a bit of a crap time not knowing x

@SEJ1789 definitely go and get scanned, it might just be taking a while to get out your system but I had lots of retained tissue. It’s 8 weeks now since my termination and 2 weeks since an MVA to remove the tissue… still testing positive! It’s never ending, I just want to move on from it all. Good luck xx

Please keep us updated. I've had a very faint positive too and started bleeding at the same time. I'm scared.

@SEJ1789 I was told 6 weeks too, was still pretty dark at 4, lighter by 5 and 6 and then by 7 it was gone. They should tell you this so you know what to expect. Hope you get some reassurance soon.

Morning I’ve been to the drop in this morning. Tested positive on some cheapie home strips before I went, tested negative there (typical) she still scanned me and everything looked like it had gone, apparently if you have retained tissue they can pick up the blood flow still. Feeling a lot better that she said there wasn’t anything there and my mind is now at ease. Was feeling ok before I went and after not so much (aren’t our minds strange aren’t they) there was also some old guy standing outside when I left with his cross, pictures of Jesus and pro life signs. Luckily I was in my car as wanted to tell him to F#%* off and leave people alone

@SEJ1789 aww I'm glad it went okay I'm scared for mine on Tuesday. Hope nobody is there outside the clinic..I might just end up puking on them and let them know next time I have bad hypermesis maybe they can help me out when I'm bedridden and suicidal.
