MEDICAL ABORTION - TRIGGER WARNING***

Hey, just wondering if anyone could relate/offer any advice..

I'm very early, 4+4. I found out the day before my period was missed, got the tablets and took the first one Friday.

I took the first pill Friday and felt fine.

Took the misoprostol then 24 hours later.
Put 4 in the vagina and no bleeding so took the next 2 orally 3 hours later.

I felt a bit off after the tablets but very mild symptoms.

Nothing happened until 29 hours later when I went for a wee at 7pm and wiped to see light pink blood on the tissue.

I have cramps but they're very very mild and the bleeding is extremely light.

Does this sound like the abortion has failed? I had a medical one previously when I was 17, a good few years ago. I bled very heavily and passed a lot of tissue, but I was 9 weeks then which is a huge difference.

I already have 2 young children under 2 and this was a complete surprise after a split condom and the morning after pill.

I've been crying all day thinking I've made the wrong decision and this is just stressing me out as I feel like I don't know what's going on.

:(

I don’t know but my experience is that such an early stage, my ‘early miscarriages’ at 5-6 weeks were barely noticeable, certainly no more than a normal period. Had I not tested I wouldn’t have known.

@2kidsandcountingg sorry- this is not related but can I ask who you went through please to get your pills? I am struggling with having to wait - BPAS didn’t get back to me even though I had an email saying they had received my form, NUPAS has not got back to me either. I am still waiting for my MSI consultation and now realise they make you have 2 appointments before they send the pills. I am feeling very out of sorts and sick and finding the wait very hard.

Hey!
I’m in South Wales and I self referred through my hospital.
I rang the gynaecology ward and said I wanted to self refer for an abortion. I had the phone consultation the same morning, picked up the tablets 2 days later and the abortion is now complete I’ve bled heavy all morning.

Can you ring your local hospital and speak to them? Disgusting that you have to wait all that time and jump through so many hoops!! Try ringing the gynaecology ward or the early pregnancy unit. I know you’re allowed to just pick up the pills and do it at home now before 8/9 weeks?

xx

Thank you for getting back to me. That sounds so much better where you are and I assumed it would be much easier here when I first started looking. I don’t think there is an option to go through a hospital here - the doctor told me I should go through BPAS. When I first looked into it, their website and MSI’s said that same day consultations were possible but I now see that really doesn’t seem to be the case.

I’m now 7 weeks and worried about how much longer it might take and thinking of going to a private clinic who do pills by post (not that I can afford it) but I have 2 older children who think I have a virus - there is only so long I can pretend that is the case before they will worry why I’m not getting better. I actually can’t believe how slow the whole process is at a very difficult time for women.

I hope you are feeling more at ease now that yours has worked okay. There are quite a few threads on here regarding similar things so you may find others who have had the same experience.

Hi had a medical abortion 3 weeks ago did everything I was told to do had heavy bleeding and what looked the pregnancy had passed had bleeding for 1 week and it stopped for a few days bleeding again like a normal period took the termination test when I was advised and it was positive went back to the doctor who done a second test which was also positive faint line, have to now go into hospital and I don’t know what for has anyone else had this experience

Hi, they probably want to scan you to see what is going on. Don’t worry yourself too much it could be that some tissue is still present so that’s why the test is faint. Hope it gets sorted for you.
