How long does it take?

Hi,
I'm currently coming up to 5wks pregnant, been seeking an abortion since I took a pregnancy test at 4wks. My first consultation isn't going to be until I'm 6wks pregnant, then the 2nd will be at 7wks pregnant and I'm told it could be a while after that to get me into the clinic to scan and get the pills etc?

Is this normal? What's everyone else's experience been?

I just can't face termination after 8wks, tbh I'm struggling with the thought of it now at 5wks.

Who did you contact? I phoned my local sexual health clinic on Wednesday, got call back on Friday and the pills were couriered to me on Monday. Took the first pill then, and the second lot this morning. Still waiting for something to happen 😬

Yours seems like a really long wait, is there another option to try? Sorry if that seems obvious, I'm sure you've thought of that.

Should've said, I'm also very early, I think 5 weeks today

I've tried the 3 places my GP told me to contact, one of which actually only done it Privately and quoted me £800 just for the first consultation to take details

I'm so sorry. That's a sad state of affairs. £800 is insane. I'm in Scotland, maybe it's different to where you are. How are you feeling now?

This for me was the most difficult part OP, the waiting! It took 3 days for me to get through to BPAS but the day I got through and they referred me, my local clinic was straight onto the phone and offered me a cancellation app that afternoon. It all went fairly quickly once I got through. Sending hugs, it's a horrible time but you're going to get through this xx

I had a termination a few years ago, they gave me the pills at the appointment around 6 weeks. Hopefully they can do the same for you.

I think because I'm high risk and unsure about my dates exactly, they've said they'll need to have a couple appointments, do it at the clinic and I'll need a scan?

Sorry you're going through this.

I had a medical termination in January. I contacted on 14th December and after all consultations and scans I had the procedure on 17th January.

I think this is longer than usual as there were Xmas/new year bank holidays in between. I was over 10 weeks in the end though due to the wait.

That said, the wait is the worst bit and once it's done the relief is immense.
