Pregnant after abortion?….help :(

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help or even just chat as I feel like I cant talk to anyone about this due to stupidity.

Basically in February (8weeks ago) I had a medical abortion at 5 weeks pregnant. It was done at home and the pregnancy test after 3 weeks showed it was negative. I started cerelle straight away after the abortion and 3 weeks began having sex again. It has been 5 weeks now since I last had sex. These past 2 weeks I have been feeling not myself - cramping, back pain as well as brown discharge and I done a test which showed a faint pregnancy line then I did clearblue test which came back positive 1-2 weeks. My emotions are all over the place now….I feel so stupid that this has happened again and I have to call the clinic on Monday. I can not stop crying. I just wanted some advice really, is it safe to have 2 abortions within this short time frame? Any better contraception suggestions? I am so worried to call the clinic on Monday :(

thank you for all any advice.

I can't comment post abortion but I had positive tests for 10 weeks post miscarriage (at 8 weeks). Apparently different tests have different sensitivities there is no universal standard. Clear blue is very sensitive so if you didn't do this as your negative one, it could just be that the HCG levels are still present in your body. Call your local early pregnancy unit and ask their advice Try to remain calm and look after yourself, all will be OK x

Get checked for ectopic pregnancy
Good luck

I also had a positive test weeks after my abortion. I had a scan that showed leftover clots that had to be removed.

Maybe use condoms as well as the pill. Or speak to the clinic / your gp.

toomuchlaundry · 09/04/2022 18:45

Going forward can you double up on contraception?

KJd11 · 09/04/2022 18:48

Thank you everyone for your advice. Doubling up may be the best option….I have been on cerelle for around 7 years and never has this happened before the pregnancy in Feb …so my emotions are all over the place. Thank you again i will contact the clinic asap

Please do not feel bad. Shit happens, if it is a new pregnancy the clinic should not judge or pass comment, accidents happen.

Either way you should be checked out to make sure it's not residual tissue from last time but there is no shame in doing what is best for you. It is every woman's right to do so. Flowers

OP- I found out I was pregnant over a weekend and then had to wait an additional 3 days for BPAS to call me back. I can relate because those were the most hellish days of my life, every hour was like a week going by, I had no idea what was going to happen- I wish I could go back in time and tell myself I had absolutely nothing to worry about.

You've been through this before, and whatever decision you make will be the right one. This is so easier said that done but try and fill the next few days full of things to do so that you aren't going round and round in your head. You've got this xx

KJd11 · 09/04/2022 21:36

@GooseyLucie thank you ❤️

And so it will be.

Don't worry about being judged at the clinic, you're not the first to come back for an appointment and you won't be the last. They are there to help xx

Message me anytime you need a listening ear, this site was so valuable to me when I was going through it

Hi friends. I am so confused and i need help. I had an abortion 6 weeks ago and i only bleed 3 days. After 3 weeks i had a home pregnancy test en it was positive. Still cant see my period. Am i still pregnant? Or there is somethng else. Is it possible to bleed 3 days and still be pregnant??

Gifty369 · 07/04/2023 05:10

I had sex on February..... although I took postinor 2 that very day, then the next day I saw my period....few weeks later I started feeling somehow so I had to run a test which showed weakly positive...then I met my doctor and he gave me some drugs for abortion which I took but I bled for just a day
Spoke to him about it and he asked me to go for scan which I did and the test came out positive again and I was 5weeks pregnant already
So I tried another abortion.....bled for six days, only for me to do a test this morning and it's still showing positive.... please guys what do I do
I'm really confused right now 😭😓

I have had an surgical abortion last year April since it was an unplanned pregnancy(even after using condom which leaked and taking plan b within 48hours) and me and my husband both were moving abroad for job opportunities
This year recently I started feeling pregnant last week, and going to the doctor she confirmed it's a 5weeks gestation.
We have recently had a mishap where the condom slipped off without us realizing but since it was around ovulation I took ellaone within 2hours of conception.
Currently,me and my husband are living in two different continent and I have very less support at home to carry out the pregnancy. As per the doctor i consulted, she suggested uripristal works differently than progrestrone and can't be guaranteed if there is a risk in the pregnancy.I am unsure on two things
1)whether the baby may have birth defect or a risk of interrupted pregnancy later
2) If I opt for surgical abortion to be 100% sure, will that leave any impact in my future fertility or pregnancy(we are intending to try and plan next year)

Any one here had successful pregnancy post ellaone or two surgical abortions but ended up in successful pregnancy later?

I am extremely confused and pretty much at wits end
