Abortion afterpains

I feel so awful asking this. I know its a very sensitive subject and I do feel like I deserve this. I took the final 4 tablets for a medical abortion at 8.30am today. From 11 till 12 I had very intense pains and cramps, then passed the pregnancy. As soon as I passed it, the cramps and pains eased. But now they are starting to feel very strong again. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this happen? I'm really worried

Hey. Me again. Who did you do it through? They normally have a 24 hour after care line, give them a call? They were very reassuring with me.

It was just through the NHS, I have the phone number, I don't want to feel like I'm badgering them. I fell asleep really early last night, woke at 4am for painkillers. The pains still there but it's eased alot again. X

Why would you feel you are badgering them?

It is a helpline!

Better to call and see what they say if you are concerned. It could need medical attention.

I hope you're ok and not feeling too rough. You don't deserve any pain, you've been through enough pain - it's not a pleasant thing to go through, and not one that it sounds you've taken lightly.

I hope you have some support and try and be easy on yourself x

It's a good few years ago for me but it sounds pretty similar to what I experienced. If the pain is manageable with medication make yourself comfortable and try to get some rest. Don't feel guilty about reaching out if you are concerned. You certainly don't deserve any pain. Take care of yourself ❤
