Worried the appointment wait will be too long

Just found out this last few days I’m pregnant, 4-5 weeks. We can’t keep this pregnancy for several reasons and I’m certain of my choice but I feel awful as I never thought I’d be considering this.

Finally managed to get though to a clinic today and have the initial phone consultation next Thursday, but they couldn’t give me any clues how long it could take after that or what may happen and it’s so stressful. I no they can’t tell me what will happen for sure but any hints would help. I’m worried theyl want to scan me as I’ve had a caesarean before and that will delay things further. The clinic only opens 2 days a week if they want me to attend in person which won’t help. It’s taken me 2 days to get through to them so they must be busy.

I’m just worried they delays will mean I can’t go through with it.

Has anyone had recent experience with this? How long did the process take you?

I’m sorry I don’t have any experience.

Ive been waiting 3 weeks for my appointment (I called when I was 5 weeks and I’ll be 8 weeks next week when I finally get to speak to someone).

Hope you don’t mind but following this as I’ve too had a cesarian so wondering if that will effect the chance of a scan being needed!

Hope you get some answers :)

Gosh 3 weeks just to get the initial consultation! That must be very stressful. I never realised before this weekend how long abortion takes.

I don’t have any other medical conditions so I’m hoping they won’t need to see me in person. I did contact the other 2 services to see if they had any sooner appointments but I couldn’t even get through to them.

Sorry you’re having to wait so long Sad

I had to wait 15 days for the initial appointment, and had the same worries as you as that took me up to 7 weeks. I was advised during the initial call that there tends to be around a week waiting time in between appointment 1 and 2.
Following appt 1, the healthcare advisor made me an appointment in person for 3 days later.

Could another provider be an option for you? I was with Msi who did have long wait times, but I’ve heard others have used BPAS and been lucky to get a closer appointment.

All the best OP Flowers

Just seen your latest post @Cakelover17 sorry!

Both Msi and bpas did have very long holding times when I called too. I believe there’s an option online to fill out an appointment request and then they contact you via email with the closest appointment Smile

Cakelover17 · 14/02/2022 19:58

Thanks @Beeheart 🙂 I’ve filled in the online forms too so I guess there’s still a chance theyl get back to me with something sooner.

We’ve had a lot of bad luck in previous pregnancies with losses and complications and I’m dreading appointments because il be a mess talking about my past pregnancies and I’m worried itl make me sound uncertain about this one. Hopefully I won’t have to talk about to more than 2 people.

Hi OP. I have gone with MSI and I have a telephone consultation on the 25th of Feb. I am so scared of how long the process is going to take. If it was down to me I’d keep the baby but my partner says financially he can’t afford to. I’m a SAHM to a 2 year old and a nearly 6 month old. My heart is broken and the long waiting times is scaring me so much. I wanted this to be over before I was 7 weeks.

Who have you gone with for the treatment? X

Cakelover17 · 16/02/2022 18:27

I’ve gone with MSI aswell, bpas Havnt responded to my booking enquiry and won’t answer the phone. In your case I’d advise taking the counselling to make sure the decision is the right one for you as it sounds like you personally don’t want a termination? Hopefully talking it through with the councillor will help you be at peace with whatever decision you make.

We are similar in that we already have a completed family and this was an accident, but although I feel horribly guilty, im certain of my choice. I hope your wait isn’t too long Flowers

I contacted MSI at 4 weeks and a day. I finally got my tablets for medical at 8 weeks. So waiting time was 4 weeks in total. I waited 10 days for consultation and then another fortnight to be seen in clinic which was only open 2 days a week, scan them home with pills. I felt like it was far too long to wait and found the waiting the most traumatising part x

Cakelover17 · 23/02/2022 14:27

That sounds similar to what I’m expecting to be honest, my initial phone appointment is tomorrow (10days after contact) and I already no the clinic only opens 2 days a week here. I’m just hoping they don’t need to see me in person.
