Hi,

I’m booked for a phone appt next week. I’ve had a precious ectopic and I’m wondering if anyone knows if this will preclude me from qualifying for a at home abortion without needing to be scanned first

I’m not sure I could stand having a scan

Does anyone know please

Hi lovely! Hope your doing ok. I don’t know the exact answer but I’ve had 2 abortions myself 1 medical and one surgical. And they have asked about previous pregnancy’s and any history of ectopic. So I’m guessing if you have you may have to be seen. Regarding the scan they don’t show you the screen and all the staff are lovely and none judgemental. It’s a really difficult time but you will get through it. My first one was over the Christmas period abs the waiting due to the bank holidays is the worst. Really feel for you x

Thank you so much for your reply @Anonymous354

I really want it over with asap and don’t fancy facing an abortion in the new year but it’s looking likely if I have to have a scan with the bank holidays and everything

It’s not a pleasant experience but I found definitely the waiting was the worst thing of the whole process. And partner was very supportive both times not because he didn’t agree he just didn’t now how to support me. So I found talking in these groups kept me going. The medical abortion I had was earlier this year and because I was only 4 weeks it was pretty much the only option. Due to Covid I think they were only offering surgical from 10 weeks onwards. However I think this just all depends on area availability etc, and which provider your doing it through. Who’s it through? And have you tried ringing another provider to see if there are any sooner apps? I did this you have to go through everything twice initially but I just needed it to be done x

Through MSI, called BPAS first but they aren’t funded in my area. I called them over a week ago so nearly a two week wait for the initial appt. I really wanted it done at 4 weeks but nearer 6 now

I ended up going through MSI both times your in good hands. Try and relax. The first one I had I was nearer 9 weeks. If they offer medical I would recommend going to collect the tablets if you can then you can start the process sooner x

Not sure about MSI but with Bpas your previous ectopic would immediately exclude you from a " No scan treatment "
It's in your best interest and the scan is not so bad in that you will not see or hear anything at all
