Abortion wait

JessicaAnne2112 · 18/12/2021 10:09

I am around 6 weeks pregnant now .... I have wanted an abortion for about 3 weeks but as I had pain I had scans and they couldn't find it till last week so as it was pregnancy of unknown location I wasn't allowed to ring clinics .... I rang coming up to nearly 2 weeks ago now every clinic I could possibly do and even MSI choices who fund our area have me waiting will be near 2 weeks just for a consultation ..... I'm heartbroken and disgusted that they can make women wait it's diabolical and I'm devestated I may not have the worst part over by Xmas I hVe 2 young kids a husband and terrible mental health !! How is this even allowed it's just cruel !

I contacted BPAS and MSI.

I had call number one with MSI on 15th and had to have a follow up call on the 18th (who said tablets could've been up to 5 working days)

I had one call with BPAS on 18th too and I got tablets delivered next day (on a Sunday!!)

Rose925 · 21/12/2021 08:49

@OneGlamMama yes with experiences Of contacting five providers, I found bpas to be far less hassle . I had about a 10 day wait for my call ( Saturday ) had pills on the Sunday !! I was shocked as I thought I’d have to go private again
@JessicaAnne2112haooy birthday sweetheart! I hope you can try have a good day xx

Rose925 · 21/12/2021 08:49

Both not five *

Mistlewoeandwhine · 21/12/2021 08:55

It’s horrible. You have my sympathy xx

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 08:58

@OneGlamMama I was told bpas doesn't fund my area at all so they couldn't help me 💔 and that was that 💔💔💔

MSI were just a bit... odd with me?

I couldn't get funding, then I could apparently. Said it would be next day, then 5 working days for delivery. I had to have two phone calls (which could've been done in one)
First one was going through all the medical questions etc and said the second one would be going through the risks etc
The second call was no more than five minutes long and she basically just said "if you bleed too heavy go to a&e" and that was it really.

Would still be waiting on the tablets from them.

Rose925 · 21/12/2021 09:41

I found MSI shocking too ,
When I had to wait almost 2 weeks for a phone call, to then be told this one was just a ‘medical history call’ that I’d need another one Which would of been another 7 days on top of that . Then the wait to actually get the pills would of almost been a MONTH!!! It’s absolutely shocking

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 09:54

@OneGlamMama so I am booked in to the local clinic on the 29th ... So a week wait but I have a date and I guess I just have to think positive .... I'm not holding out for MSI and I will tell them to shove it if they want me to wait for another phone call ! It's a joke 🤦🏻‍♀️ atleast with this I have access to their suit if anything goes wrong at all 24/7 ..... Positives I guess

Hopefully it goes quickly lovely and they can help you out! ThanksThanks

I'm still wondering if I'm gonna receive a pack in like a months time 😂😂😂

Pickledlipstick · 21/12/2021 10:09

That is so cruel not just to you but to the baby who is growing and developing every day. Earlier is better for both of you. Hope you get sorted.

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 10:28

@Pickledlipstick urm thank you , not sure that made me feel great but thanks ... I agree with you but I have no choice in the matter I have to wait ... Continuing the pregnancy is not an option so I have to wait ..... They do them up to 24 weeks so me being 7/8 weeks is very early I guess to them 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's madness isn't it ! I'm going to take their phone call today but if they say they have to ring back I'm going to tell them to shove it I don't want the phone call .... I have a definite date now so if they can't do before Xmas I'm not interested personally.... I'm terrified as I will be 7/8 weeks .. how far were you if you don't mind me asking I saw alot of 6 weeks but Im scared as now I'm further I don't know what I'm to expect I guess 😫

My first ever termination was 9 weeks 5 days.

This one I don't know as I never had to have a scan. Under 6 weeks I assume from my period dates.

Both were exactly the same experience.

I recommend putting the tablets internal than in gums. They taste gross.

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 14:59

@OneGlamMama

Thank you so much , I really appreciate it ! I'm so scared honestly but it has to be done , just fairly anxious about it being left longer I guess ..... They litteraly won't let me have tablets without a scan , I did have surgery on my cervix 6 weeks prior to finding out I was pregnant 🤦🏻‍♀️

OneGlamMama · 21/12/2021 15:26

Possibly due to your dates, they want to check beforehand. They did the same on my first, as i measured weeks ahead on my first termination and I was just under the 10 week limit.

OneGlamMama · 21/12/2021 15:26

We are right here for you Thanks

Branleuse · 21/12/2021 15:35

9 weeks is still early. The NHS do make you wait around for pretty much everything. Its distressing. Even when i had an abortion nearly 30 years ago i had to wait weeks. Surgical abortion is fine though. It sounds worse than it is

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 16:01

@Branleuse I'm having a medical not surgical x

MSI just rang ...
JANUARY 3RD FOR A SECOND PHONE CALL BEFORE POSTING!

politely told them to do one ! I don't mean to come across rude I wasn't rude to her I was angry and obviously upset and know it's not their fault but it's disgusting ! So I'm hanging in there for 29th ... I'll be back on here posting I'm sure for comfort so nice to know your here thank you ❤️ and thanks for sharing with me too , I have contraception , pain meds and anti sickness ready to go xx

Hi I just wanted to reassure you, I had a medical termination at 9 weeks and although unpleasant it wasn't traumatising for me, as like you, knew this was right for us.
I had this done at my local hospital, I think I had a 2 week wait for the appointment and I remember feeling exactly like you.
Here to hold your hand.

JessicaAnne2112 · 21/12/2021 16:47

@SeekingBalance

Hi I have anti sickness and also codeine ready to go .... I'm not going to lie the idea of throwing up is actually the worst thing about this for me ( emetaphobia) ....

I am also scared of bleeding out but I know that's rare , I will be 7/8 weeks next week when it's done so 🤞 it's not too bad or I don't see much I know it's right for me and for my family unit but I'm obviously pretty scared too xx

OneGlamMama · 21/12/2021 17:44

3rd Jan! My goodness! That's crazy!

Especially considering my second phone call was meant to go through the risks and it was literally under 5 mins of "yeah if you bleed out, just go to A&E" 🙄

Think my epidural talk was longer than that!!!

Right here with you. I know it's still some time to go, but just keep hanging in there. It'll be over sooner than you think 🤍

SeekingBalance · 21/12/2021 18:03

I am a notoriously heavy bleeder and my bleeding lasted around a week I'd say, very heavy the first two days but wore off. I had the most intense sickness which was mainly why I terminated, I couldn't even walk into my conservatory without throwing up because of the cold smell? Couldn't go near my dog without being sick but have gone on to have two children without sickness. As soon as I'd had the procedure the sickness disappeared.

Be prepared to become very cold, shaking cold. That too passes quickly, just have a blanket to hand.
My experience was no where near as scary as I'd read online.

henni85 · 21/12/2021 18:31

MSI have really long waits. I have to be scanned due to previous abdominal surgery and my appointment is on the 29th. I phoned at 5 weeks and will be over 8 by this appointment. I’ve had previous miscarriages at this stage so I know it’s going to be grim, physically. Trying to be excited for Christmas for family and friends is really bloody hard. All the best to everyone going through this at the moment x
