Hi ladies
Does anyone have any positive stories they can share about medical abortion, or anyone going through one very soon who will be around to hand hold?
I’ve taken the first tablet tonight, and due to take the other 4 on Friday morning. I’m really nervous about the side affects and the pain. Hoping it isn’t as bad as some of the horror stories I’ve read! X

Hi @Lozz94,
Sorry to hear you are going through this. I promise you aren’t alone.

I suppose with Mumsnet it quite often is the negative/horror type stories that people report. As with most things in life.

It really is so individual. Some women sail through this. I did find it painful with cramping, vomiting, nausea and diarrhoea but it was quite short lived and physically recovered by the next day. Blood loss was slight and had stopped by day 4. No more than a light period.

Just hunker down for the day. Make sure you have all that you need nearby. Take some painkillers before.
You will get through it and we are here if you need up. Thinking of you.xx

@ED81 thank you so much for replying! I’ve been really dizzy and sick from the first tablet so I’m not looking forward to tomorrow morning.. hopefully it’ll be over quickly!! I’ve got to pick my 10 year old up before 6pm so hoping if I take them early I’ll be okay to pick him up Xx

@Lozz94. No problem.

Yeah, I suppose the earlier you do it the more time you will have to recover. It took about 4 or so hours for me.x

ED81 · 19/11/2021 13:27

Thinking of you today.
All the best.xx

Lozz94 · 19/11/2021 14:13

@ED81 thank you! I’m through the worst of it now I think. Still some cramping etc but wasn’t as bad as expected! Xx

I've taken my first tablet at 9am today! Really scared and nervous. Feel okay so far. Glad to hear it went okay for you. Fingers crossed. Looking forward to this weekend being over fast.

Lozz94 · 20/11/2021 16:33

@Vanessashanessajenkins2 I hope it all goes okay for you! Here if you need a chat! It wasn’t half as bad as I expected. I’ve been out shopping and resting the rest of the day today. Sending love x

@Lozz94 thank you so much for your response! I was worried about being sick after taking the first tablet but I was totally fine, just very lethargic, weak and a bit shivery. Ive had mild cramps too. Very nervous for tomorrow and hoping and praying it will be okay. So glad to hear you are recovering and resting! Hopefully that will be me next week. I just want the worst over tomorrow. My little one is going to childcare Monday to Wednesday and I have booked those days off work just in case I need to so I can rest.

Lozz94 · 20/11/2021 21:35

@Vanessashanessajenkins2 I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine! I actually started bleeding just before I had the second lot then within 3-4 hours it was all over with. Try and get some rest tonight if you can, and good luck with it all tomorrow. Just be kind to yourself and take it easy x

Hi @lozz94! Thank you for checking in on me!

I took the second set of tablets at 9am in between my gum and cheek. Before that, I took 800mg of ibuprofen. Within half an hour I had cramps. Within an hour they were really intense for about three hours. My husband said I was just praying out loud for ages.

I had diarrhoea, sickness and the blood started coming out after about 2 hours. Suddenly around 2pm I just fell asleep (the pain must have eased) and when I woke up I felt as though I needed the loo and I felt something come out.

I asked my husband to check and it was something that was definitely more than a clot. I am around 7 weeks 5 days.

Since then I've been bleeding all day but the pain isn't half as bad and I've been able to spend some time with my toddler and even wash up and clean the kitchen.

The feeling of brain fog I've had for the last few weeks and lack of energy has suddenly disappeared and I do feel so much relief that the worst part of the process is over.

How are you doing and feeling? Flowers

Lozz94 · 21/11/2021 19:51

@Vanessashanessajenkins2 I'm so glad you're okay, been thinking of you!
I feel loads better today too, back to normal now 😊 I'm so relieved it's all over and also glad I don't feel sick 24/7 anymore!! X

Hi guys I’m just writing to you in the hopes I get some reassurance I’m going for a medical abortion
My anxiety is through the roof on the what ifs like ie what if I die what if it doesn’t come away. I know crazy I even think like that but I’m such a worry head. I will be 4 wks when I get it done can anyone give me reassurance xx

Lozz94 · 23/12/2021 08:32

@Jakiii hey! When will you be having the tablets?
Honestly I was thinking the same absolutely panicking about the worst that could happen, but the absolute worst of it was a bit of pain when it actually passed. Will you have somebody with you? X

Jakiii · 23/12/2021 08:52

Hey I have my phone consultation today then they will decide if they post them or make me wait till Jan 3 which is more stress, yes both my parents are here for support and I’ve told them everything that will happen and what to expect x

Lozz94 · 23/12/2021 09:07

@Jakiii hopefully they'll be able to post them to you so you can get it sorted quicker!
I'm glad you've got someone there for support it makes it a lot easier! Let us know how you get on with your phone consultation x

Jakiii · 23/12/2021 09:10

I hope so they didn’t seem so keen yesterday but it’s a nurse that’s calling me today and she will make the decision , I will let you guys know what happens xx

Jakiii · 23/12/2021 12:01

Hi! They are delivering the package to me next Wednesday, she said about the 2% chance of Hemorrhage that’s scared me a bit, she said I am really early and it should be fine does anyone have any advice on how to not be so anxious over it? Xx

Lozz94 · 23/12/2021 13:22

@Jakiii I was really early on too. Complications are so rare and unlikely to happen but I get why you're anxious cos I was the same. The only thing I could think was that I knew I was makin the right choice for me so I didn't have an option but to take them.
It was over pretty quickly for me and most other people seem to say the same so hopefully it'll be the same for you! Xx

OP posts:
Jakiii · 23/12/2021 13:33

Yes I have no other option either I really don’t want to continue the pregnancy and just want it over! 🥺 will you guys mind if I message on the day just for reassurance? Xx

Lozz94 · 23/12/2021 20:30

@Jakiii of course you can message whenever!!! Do you know when you'll be taking them? Xx

OP posts:
Vanessashanessajenkins2 · 03/01/2022 20:49

@Jakiii how are you doing? Hope you are okay? Let us know how you get on! A month and a half on and I am back to normal and all went well! You will be fine too! I'm absolutely sure of it.
