Medical abortion: pressure on cervix? Anyone?

Hi I hope someone can help me! I had my last lots of pills on Friday at 6pm. Didn’t start properly bleeding until Saturday night at about 9pm even then it was just like a normal period. I would have been 5 weeks 6 days when I took the last pills. I haven’t really had any clots like most people seem to experience, I’ve had little bits of tissue and at one point some white/gray tissue with a small peppercorn sized ball but definitely no sack or big clots. This morning I have basically stopped bleeding but I’m left with a heavy feeling in my cervix. I’m not even sure if that’s the best way to describe it..... it feels like It’s under pressure or bruised? Tiny bits of tissue occasionally and tiny bit of blood when I wipe. Has anyone experienced this pressure? It almost feels like it’s trying to constantly push.I know I was early so I guess it could be over as I did bleed and yesterday morning there was a small pool of blood upon waking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😢

Hello, hope you're feeling OK Thanks

I don't remember feeling any kind of pressure on my cervix after I had a medical abortion. BPAS have some helpful information and a number you can call: www.bpas.org/abortion-care/abortion-aftercare/

Please do speak to a medical professional if you're worried.

@countrypunk
Thanks for you reply, I got my pills through BPAS and I’ve been on the phone to them twice previously due to it taking so long for me to start bleeding. There was talk (before it started) of me going to the clinic for a scan to rule out eptopic pregnancy but because i started bleeding that no longer was needed. She seemed happy it was working and not to worry about lack of clots because I’m so early and to wait to test in three weeks. I’m not in pain as such it’s just uncomfortable and weird. If anything the cramps have eased off and so has the horrible lower back pain I had. I’m just wondering really if anyone has had anything similar. I’ve bled a tiny bit more since first post so maybe there’s more to come? Just feels so strange this pressure. Hopefully someone has experienced this! Obviously if it becomes painful then I’ll call them.

I think I would seek some medical attention.. I had medical and my experience was a lot of blood and a lot of clotting.. not to say we’re all different and the stages of pregnancy also depends. I think trust your gut with this one and if something doesn’t seem right you need to get some advice. I hope you’re ok it’s such an unsettling experience xxxx

@Peachee
I’m waiting for a call now. My gut tells me somethings off xx

BPAS ended up telling to call my GP about the cervix pressure. GP isn’t worried at this stage, she said if anything was stuck or it was incomplete then I would be bleeding and feel very unwell. It’s actually not as bad today although it’s still worrying me if I’m honest. The doc did say it might just be localised pain/pressure from the tablets making my cervix dilate so hopefully that’s all it is. Just feels like this can’t be it! How can I get away with just 3 days of bleeding with no clots really. The worst part of this has been the waiting and worrying if it’s worked which probably won’t stop until I get a negative result. In hindsight I wish I had opted for surgical purely to avoid this long drawn out process of worry. Didn’t realise it would be like this. Just want to allow myself to feel sad etc but my emotions are almost on hold until I know it’s done. Anyway....rant over xx hope everyone who’s going through this is holding up ok xx ❤️

If you still feel unsure and they haven’t done anything to check I would ask for a second opinion.. there is no harm in doing this for peace of mind.. how can anyone tell without checking? I can see exactly why you’re worrying.. how far along were you?
I really feel for you.. have you had any observations taken? X

dudemeister76 · 19/05/2021 19:16

@Peachee 6 weeks.
Currently in hospital waiting for bloods to come back (checking for infection?). Probably going to be called in to clinic for scan in the next few days. At least I’ll know what’s going on soonish. This whole scenario can go suck a bollock....I’m fed up and hangry xx

Bless you.. I’m so glad you are being checked this is brilliant! Well done you for advocating for yourself. Hope everything is ok for you. Like the whole situation isn’t stressful enough without feeling listened to. Thank god you are getting some proper answers now (even if everything is ok) xxxx

Peachee · 19/05/2021 20:39

Bloods might be to check hcg levels xx

dudemeister76 · 19/05/2021 21:20

@Peachee
The bloods were for checking hcg levels and to see if I had an infection too. No infection thank god plus my hcg level was only 56 which she seemed to think was a good indication that it has been successful and no need to attend the clinic. She said that at 6 weeks she would expect it to be in the high hundreds at least. So it’s dropped! I am so relieved!! I definitely feel more comfortable waiting to test in 2 and a half weeks. Still haven’t started bleeding again. Maybe I’ve just been lucky with just a sore cervix. After my horrendous miscarriage before I guess I was expecting a car crash again. Fingers crossed it’s finally over and I can start processing my sadness xx Thankyou for listening to me moan these last few days it’s been really nice to talk to someone who understands❤️

I'm a Bpas nurse - you've just described a typical early medical abortion. It can take minutes ... or days to pass a pregnancy
Some ladies have very few stingy clots some have huge ones
It's so difficult to say exactly how it will be
You'll be fine and soon can put this behind you , take care 💐
