Post abortion and hormones. Feeling terrible

Hi.
I’ve posted here several times and it’s been helpful. Sorry if it’s repetitive for some and that it seems like I’m rambling.

I’m 4.5 weeks post abortion. My period still hasn’t returned and I feel terrible. Very emotional, flat and tearful. I truly can’t be bothered with anything or anyone.

Does anyone know if this is common? It does feel hormonal so hoping when my period arrives I’ll feel better again. I really hate this. My DH is so supportive which I’m
so thankful for - it makes me cry even typing this!

Any advice is appreciated.

I definitely had this, and think I read that it’s quite common. It maybe didn’t last as long for me, but I was only 5 and a bit weeks when I had the abortion so maybe that’s relevant.
For me it just faded and I’m pretty sure it was just a hormonal thing, combined with maybe tiredness from the stress and emotion of the whole thing. But I think you can still access counselling from BPAS/Marie Stopes if you think that might help you?

Thanks for your reply - really appreciate it. I was 8 weeks and 4 days.

I had pre abortion counselling and having another session tomorrow. It’s with Marie stopes.

I felt fine for the two weeks or so afterwards. It’s just been since. I’m so hoping it’s hormones and not some weird regret.

I’m really hating it.

Hi , sorry to hear you are feeling crap
It can take 4-6 weeks after EMA to have your first period - expect it to possibly be longer heavier than before with some more clots - very normal
Monitor for signs of infection and remember your fertility returns immediately after termination.
