Hello, I had a medical termination on Wednesday which I now regret, I had some heavy bleeding on thursday and was told I need to bleed heavily for at least four days for it to be successful but when I've got up during the night to use the bathroom the bleeding has already seemed to practically stop, is this normal or is it possible its failed?

The heavy bleeding normally lasts for about 4-5 hours, not 4 days. You might have some lighter bleeding for a few days, but not always. If you are feeling regretful, I guess you'd be sort of hoping that it has failed. All you can do is to wait for about 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test to see what the story is. But from what you've said, the abortion seems to have worked as it should.

I had lighter that expected bleeding too. The termination had still been successful though.
Sorry you are feeling regret about it. Why is this?

I guess I felt like I had to do it as my mum and sister kept saying they thought it was best in my circumstances & the dad was saying he didnt want it and started seeing someone else When he asked for an 'update on the situation' and I told him I'd gone through with it he then said that it's made him sad and that he had changed his opinion on it and now I just feel so guilty

That sounds tough. Sounds like you had pressure to go through with it.

That’s also very unfair that the dad said that but had started seeing someone else. Not very supportive.

Have you thought about counselling?

I had a medical abortion a few weeks ago and I had much lighter bleeding than expected. The heavy bleeding probably only lasted a day and then it was light for a week and then stopped completely 😊

@Bumblebee96 it's unlikely your treatment has failed as you have had bleeding
The 4 day comment is as follows
You should have a minimum of 4 days bleeding although likely you will have between 7-14 days
If you have less than 4 days bleeding you should contact your provider , that doesn't have to be heavy- even light spotting is ok , but should be at least 4 days .
