Medical Abortion - Second Pill

Hi There

I took my first pill yesterday in the clinic ( I am 4 weeks) however I am ment to take the second dose tomorrow according to the NHS. I have to work(bro in laws business) and i have no way of getting out of it - could I take the pills tonight or is that too early?

Hi. I have no medical experience, I’ve just been through a medical abortion which I completed yesterday and I had to take mine 48 hours apart. I know some are 24 hours apart but my only advice would be to follow the guidelines you were given. But certainly don’t leave it any longer that the time you were given as they medicines work alongside each other. I can only speak from my experience, I’m a working mum of 2 in my 40’s and have a lot of energy and go...but today following the day of my abortion yesterday; I have been good for nothing. My energy level is low, and tonight when I did a few chores I made myself bleed again. Please take care of yourself and good luck I hope it all goes okay for you 🤍

@elaine31xx o was in the exact same position as you 2 weeks ago. Was 4 weeks pregnant...I was originally booked in for surgical but as it was too early they wanted me to wait 2 weeks....I was just a right mess emotionally so couldn't wait any longer. I decided to go down the medical route. I was similar to you...my partner works for my dad so couldn't ask for time off /ring in sick. I took first tablet Saturday eve. Then 4 internally Sunday eve followed by 2 in the mouth. I had very little bleeding. But once I started moving about the morning the bleeding got heavier. I managed to look after both children,..just found myself tired...but as soon as my partner got home...I just went straight to bed for about 4 nights. Just be as kind to yourself as you can. I'm here if you need any support. I was told by Marie stopes that you just need to take the second lot before the 48hours of you taking your first tablet x

Thank you for replying. I did take them tonight after calling. I weirdly feel fine just a bit of cramping and I have passed maybe 4 5 clots. I'm worried I've not passed enough? Is that normal?x

Thank you so much for replying.i took them tonight and feel OK. Just worried it doesn't work etc etc totally overthinking I think but worried I haven't passed enough. It's hard with noone to talk to about if but this forum has been amazing x

I was the same didn’t have much bleeding at all. I went for a scan last week and they said pretty much everything had Gone x

I didn’t have anyone to talk to either and this forum helped me too, it’s a lovely platform to get help from. If you are only 4 weeks or so then I think (could be wrong) it would just be a little extra heavy than a period with a few clots. Glad you are feeling okay xx 💜

Thank you. I've passed a few more now have the second lot of tablets under my tongue now (yuk) horrible sensation. Thank you ❤

It is weird isn’t it! The first lot of tablets I also put under my tounge and I had 4 there, I actually had a tounge cramp for a few hours afterwards where I over-thought about holding them there! Glad you’re doing okay, rest up and get a good nights sleep and you should be okay; what time have u got to work? X

Hi @Petal17 sorry didnt see your message. Ended up not working - was a covid test ended up being negative. Felt ok, stil bleeding lightly now feel a bit of nausea today hoping this is normal and will all pass xx

@elaine31xx Hey. I’m day 13 today and have not felt pregnant for a couple of days now. Bleeding had stopped but I have a tinge of colour when I wiped this morning and a few cramps. My boobs stopped hurting and I had a full heavy pulling feeling in my stomach which has also gone. Hormones have settled down abit now but I did have a day on Sunday where I just felt so lethargic and just wanted to lay in bed all day. Trying to keep myself busy to keep the brain occupied but I’m dreading my first period as I think I’ll be awash with hormones again. How r u doing x

@Petal17 ooo thats good! i am feeling ok I think I UTI and got a bit of back ache. Not tired at all or anything I think my brain is just playing tricks on me and Im overthinking the situation - have a fear of it not working but Im remaining hopeful that it has.xx

My husband had that fear but I actually saw the fetus. I’ve had MC’s before much further along as well and never saw that, but this time i did and I was so shocked. I have to take a test on Tuesday next week but I’m sure it has worked and I’m sure yours has too like you say it’s the brain playing tricks. Oh no have you got any antibiotics bless you that can’t be nice. Another lady who I was speaking to around the same time posted that she got one too. I wonder if it’s common? X
