Mifepristone for termination

I'm having a surgical abortion next week and have been given mifepristone to take 24hrs in advance to soften the cervix. I can't find many 'real life' accounts of taking this medication and I'm nervous. Am I likely to start bleeding heavily or throwing up loads after taking? What if I am sick before it's been absorbed? What happens if I take it later than I'm supposed to? Just wondering if anyone has any experience. Thanks.

Hi OP I don't have any experience but didn't want to read & run. Sorry to hear you're having to go through this. Hopefully another mumsnetter will be along to give you any info you need soon x

Hi OP we are moving this to the Pregnancy Choices section in a moment.

Hi

If you are sick within the first hour of taking it, contact the clinic and they will get you another one. For most women there are little to no side effects of the medication. I felt normal after it. I know it's stressful but try not to worry xx

Thanks Violet Smile I hope I'm lucky enough not to have side effects. It's not that I think I should breeze through the whole thing or anything, I'm just pretty scared as it is.

@Willowdaisyholly I understand and there's no reason why you should suffer. This is your choice and you have nothing to feel bad for. It'll all be over soon xx
