This will be my second abortion and I’m devastated

Please be kind.

I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant having had an abortion nearly two years ago. I have a long term partner and both times have been contraceptive failures.

I had a medical last time, and due to Coronavirus now I’m going to be taking the pills at home when they arrive over the next few days. I remember the pain of last time and I’m so scared to go through it again. Has anyone had more than one abortion who can advise whether I can expect the same experience a second time round?

I’m in absolute bits. I am 100% about my decision but still in shock this has happened again.

Hi OP,
I can't answer but I'm trying to decide whether to terminate my pregnancy and I'm worried about how it'll feel and pain etc.

💐 I'm so sorry OP. I have no words but sending love and solidarity.

I’m very sorry you’re having to take this action. It must be very distressing.

Please have a chat with your GP about better options for you for contraception, perhaps an IUD, injection or implant as these that have lower failure rates - plus your partner also wearing a condom. All to help ensure you do not have to have a repeat scenario. I hope this isn’t going to be too distressing for you to do at home and that your partner will be there to support you.

I had the pills to release a missed miscarriage, and the pain was horrible. But I think I would have fared a lot better at home, with my own bathroom and unlimited cuddles and emotional support from my partner.

The worst was over in 24 hours, pain-wise but I couldn't leave for 3 days and being stuck on a ward does make you dwell.

I'm sorry that you're in this position OP. Termination is sometimes necessary but it doesn't make it any less traumatic. I really do sympathise and wish I could give you a hug.

Thank you so much everyone for being kind. I managed to finally doze for a couple of hours last night but I’ve woken up and this is still happening.

I have fallen pregnant on two different forms of contraception now; frustrating because I do want another child one day (DS is 2) but just can’t do it now for various reasons.

@KinkyFink please feel free to message me any time. x

Get plenty of rest and take pain relief if needed Flowers

KinkyFink · 18/06/2020 13:20

How are you doing OP?

Floopyandtired · 18/06/2020 15:33

@KinkyFink thank you so much for asking. My tablets arrived today and I took the first one not long ago. The relief I already feel that the wheels are in motion confirms that this is the right decision, but I still feel a huge guilt about being in this position again.

Keep in mind that this isn't your fault - it's really unfair that this happened to you twice and its not like you weren't using protection! I hope it goes smoothly and you don't have too much pain Flowers I've got my phone consultation tomorrow and then they should send the pills I guess. I'm doing this by myself and I've just got back my STI test (considering the lies I've been told throughout this situation) and I also have gonnorhea and chlamydia to contend with so I just want to take the pills now and have it all be over Sad

Please can anyone help...

I took the first tablet on Thursday and the second tablets yesterday about 5pm. At about 9:30pm I started bleeding and cramping. The cramping was quite strong but I’ve barely bled - I’ve filled maybe two small pads in 12+ hours. This hasn’t worked has it. I can just feel it. I was super early (last period began on 16th May) but even so I should bleed more than this shouldn’t I. Absolutely gutted this isn’t over yet.

Hi op did you have any cramps ? I know this sounds odd but I have had and read so many people saying that once it comes out you can hear a small pop . If you were under 4 weeks I would say that it has worked because basically it's only going to be a load of cells . Xxx

Floopyandtired · 21/06/2020 16:30

Hi @familys2018 thanks so much for replying. I actually did end up bleeding heavily yesterday evening and overnight. Passed a couple of clots too. Feel loads better today so think the pregnancy has passed. I did phone BPAS too and the lovely nurse said that because I was so early they wouldn’t expect me to get the big clots etc. Hope you’re ok xxx

Hi
Hopefully you see this
I’m exactly 6 Weeks pregnant roughly going by my last period date 23rd March 2021. Probably actually convinced about 4 weeks ago
I have a termination booked on Friday but I’m so unbelievably scared, did you have a lot of pain? I already have one child and had an abortion before however it failed and I ended up in surgery, I don’t remember much. I’m just wondering how bad the bleed and pain was? Also how soon after the actual abortion was you able to do things as I have the first appointment Friday but have an event Saturday I don’t want to miss but I have a feeling I will have to
Thank you and hopefully hear from you soon
Xx
