Conscious sedation

Hi all,

Has anybody got any experience of conscious sedation? Do you feel any pain at all with this with a surgical abortion?

Conscious sedation had no effect on me at all!

No one warned me that was even technically possible, so it ended up quite a traumatic experience. If I’d been prepared that that could be the case it might have been different, but the doctor didn’t really believe me! He said ‘you’ll start to feel a little woozy in a few seconds’, I didn’t and let him know, he just gave a knowing smile to the nurse and carried on. I froze and just let them carry on but I was in shock.

To be honest, getting it over and done with at that point was probably the best thing over all, but I was really traumatised at the time. If you’re aware of the possibility of it not working at all it probably won’t be the same.
